"Go on vacation in the Caribbean" is a phrase that arouses people's fantasies: pirates, golden beaches, towering coconut trees and turquoise clear seas, rhythmic Jamaican music and the clanging of steel drum music... Of course, the romance of the Caribbean sea in movie 007, the thrilling shots and the wedding photos of Hollywood movie stars on the Caribbean beach have long been deeply imprinted in people's minds.
To enjoy the beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea and that sense of ease, you first have to "trek": there are no direct flights to Antigua in the country, I flew 8 hours from London to Antigua, and waited for four hours at Antigua Airport before boarding it. Flights tomas! The most tested my patience was that the voyage was not long, but it took five stops in the middle to reach st. tomas!!! st. Tomas and my destination, St John, are separated by a strait nearly three kilometers wide, so it's almost forty minutes' ferry ride ashore on st John Island's cruzbay ferry dock! I was tired as I stepped off the ferry, but the taxi drivers gathered at the open-air music stations chatting, Caribbean-inspired music and the laughter wafting out of the restaurants reminded me that I had set foot on this beautiful island filled with the atmosphere of West Indies' rural life! Our group settled down in a private villa hotel arranged by a friend. There are many such private hotels in the Caribbean, we live in this one is composed of five rooms and swimming pool, living facilities are complete, in addition to a spacious open kitchen facing the pool and the sea, each room has a separate toilet, and my bathroom, actually outdoors: wooden fence, outside is dense woods, there is a feeling of returning to the embrace of nature Oh!
I'm most impressed with the Caribbean than early morning and dusk, where there are always miraculous layers of contours on the horizon that make it hard to figure out where you are! According to my observation, on the clean and leisurely island of St John, the pace of life of the locals is not hurried and leisurely. The tourism industry here is deliberately low-key, only for the high-spending class, you can come here for a holiday, you can be very relaxed, rent a jeep, speed on the winding mountain road, or park your car on the cliff, stop and admire the endless sea under your feet; of course, you can also bring food and maps, find a beach where no one is in a daze...
The best beaches on stjohn island are distributed on the north coast, including: cinnamon bay, cruz bay, maho bay, trunk bay, etc. The most lively resort area on the island is great cruz bay, usually vacationing here, without your own means of transportation will be "difficult to walk", because from the villas on the mountain to the beaches, you must "cross the mountains", without your own means of transportation, you can only go to the roadside and wait for a big truck taxi! I remember once we were going to take a ferry to a nearby island, I forgot to bring a passport, the result can not board the ship, had to be accompanied by a man to take a "taxi" back to the residence to get the passport --- here "taxi" is actually a truck, passengers have to climb from the back of the car, the driver is very polite, when getting off the car said to us: "Ladies for free, men twelve dollars!" "You can imagine what kind of consumption level it takes for twelve dollars for a five-minute drive!"
Diving is a specialty activity on St John's Island. If you don't qualify for diving, don't worry, you can try shallow diving; if you have a diving license, then this is arguably the ideal diving destination! The diving areas here are very challenging, with some depths even exceeding twenty-five to thirty meters!
In addition, the National Park of the Caribbean has a marine reserve, diving in the quiet and clear waters, you can feel the fantasy, beauty and tranquility of the underwater world: parrotfish, stingray flounder, stone perch, pike, rays and other reefs and shallow sand bays abound here, and cute turtles are frequent visitors here. If you're not a diving enthusiast, it's also a great pleasure to sunbathe uninhabited on the crisp white sands of the Caribbean!
