Beijing, June 11 (China News Network) -- 2,000 pieces of natural rock salt from the Himalayan region were combined into the shape of Mount Kailash at the exhibition site, reminding people of the importance of social ecology and environmental protection. This is a scene from the "Overland Boat" exhibition that is being exhibited in Beijing.

The "Overland Boat" exhibition brings together 10 artists' art projects covering individual/group artistic actions from the 1990s to recent years, as well as the artists' long-term cross-domain practice. They activate or awaken watersheds, histories, networks, and the cities, villages, and social scenes associated with them in an "organic" way.

The exhibition's origins start from the issue of water, including Xiong Wenyun's seven-time entry into Tibet from 1998 to 2001 for the "Flowing Rainbow" project, and Li Yongzheng's "Salt consumed and Kailash Mountain" project in 2014. At the same time, there are also works that place their own physical experience in the society, such as "A Tree" that Sazi walked about 3,800 kilometers on a 133-day hike, and Xingxin's "I and the Ice Floe" project, which took ice from the source of the Yangtze River and melted ice at the mouth of Shanghai.

Curator Li Jie said that the exhibition tries to show our life that is getting better and better through a little story, and at the same time solemnly put forward the importance of social ecological issues and environmental protection to the audience. With the exhibition, Li Jie won the first hyundaiblueprize "sustainability" award. In addition to thanking the organizers, he frankly said that this will help to continuously promote the social responsibility of artists and let them have more dialogue with society.

The reporter saw at the scene that the exhibition site was arranged in a unique way, the entire space was covered by a large area of "waves and hills", the audience could freely step into it, the undulating space changed the audience's usual walking habits and a single viewing perspective, and the "river or ravine" that can be passed by one person forms a hidden clue.

It is reported that the "overland boat" is located in the Modern Automobile Culture Center in Beijing's 798 Art District and will last until August 5. (End)
