Historically, every change in China's territory has contained the vicissitudes of history. Modern China, struggling in the face of hardships, was forced to sign a series of treaties for land reparations due to the invasion of the great powers and the weakness and incompetence of the government at that time. With the founding of New China, China actively recovered the land that had been forced to be ceded. The sovereignty of the Diaoyu Islands is indisputable, but the three islands have become counties and cities of other countries.
The first island is the Diaoyu Dao, and the dispute between China and Japan over sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands has been going on for a long time. In order to occupy China's fishing and fishing, Japan has worked hard to build a helicopter airfield on the Diaoyu Islands, and then built a lighthouse on the islands, and in 2010, in the waters near the Diaoyu Islands, a Japanese patrol boat collided with a Chinese fishing boat, which escalated the contradiction between China and Japan on the Diaoyu Islands again.
Diaoyu Islands The main island of the Diaoyu Islands archipelago is located in the East China Sea. The area of Diaoyu Islands is about 3.91 square kilometers, and the surrounding sea area is about 174,000 square kilometers. The Diaoyu Islands are also very close to China, with a straight-line distance of only 190 kilometers from Keelung City in Taiwan Province of China.
Japan's "stealing" of fishing was caused by modern colonial aggression. In 1894, Japan launched the Sino-Japanese War of aggression against China, and the Qing government at that time was weak and unable to stop the powerful Japanese army, so it lost the battle and signed the humiliating Treaty of Maguan.
There is a provision in the "Maguan Treaty" that China ceded the island of Taiwan and its affiliated islands to Japan, but in fact, before the signing of the treaty, when the Diaoyu Islands were still part of the Territory of the Qing Dynasty, a meeting had been held without authorization to incorporate the Diaoyu Islands into The Okinawa Prefecture of Japan. Japan was full of confidence in the Sino-Japanese War and attempted to force China to sign a land-cutting treaty by defeating China and "legitimize" the act of "stealing" fishing and fishing.
Although after the founding of New China, a series of unequal treaties signed by the late Qing government were completely negated, and a large area of lost land was recovered, but in the face of fishing and fishing, Japan's wolf ambitions did not intend to let go of the Diaoyu Islands. The Chinese side has made it clear that the Diaoyu Dao is China's inherent territory and has never recognized Japan's illegal occupation. Since September 2012, China has begun regular patrols of the Diaoyu Dao and its affiliated islands, and Japan should respect history and refrain from doing anything that goes against the country's reputation.
The second is the Glass Islands. Located on the eastern edge of the East China Sea, the Glass Islands are the dividing line between the East China Sea and the Philippine Sea. The entire archipelago is in a north-south trend, with a length of more than 1,000 kilometers, an area of about 4,644 square kilometers, and a population of about 1.4 million people living on the island.
There was once a Ryukyu country in the Liuli Islands, and this Ryukyu country has a profound relationship with China, and even the name "Ryukyu Country" was taken by China. Due to the unique geographical advantages of the Ryukyu Kingdom, during the Tang Dynasty, the Ryukyu Kingdom became a maritime transit point for Chinese mainland trade with Southeast Asia. During the exchanges, the Ryukyu Kingdom became a vassal state of China at that time.
This relationship lasted for five centuries, and then the Ryukyu Kingdom gradually became a "puppet" of Japan due to the Japanese invasion. In the late Qing Dynasty, due to the corruption and incompetence of the Qing government, the entire country was miasma, while Japan gradually became stronger under the Meiji Restoration, and Japan no longer needed the Ryukyu Kingdom as a platform to obtain Qing Dynasty goods, but wanted to use the geographical location of the Ryukyu State to attack the mainland region of China.
Beginning in 1872, Japan revoked the name of the Ryukyu Kingdom and established it as a domain. Later, he sent an army to annex the entire Ryukyu Kingdom and established it as Okinawa Prefecture. Japan had already lost world war II, with China, Britain, and the United States signing the Postan Proclamation urging Japan to surrender.
China, Britain, and the United States delineated Japan's sovereignty after the defeat in the war, stipulating that Japan's sovereignty was limited to Honshu, Kyushu, Hokkaido, and the islands designated by the four countries and allies, which also meant that Japan lost its sovereignty on Ruri Island. According to the agreement reached at the Cairo meeting, the management of Liuli Island was handed over to the United States.
However, after the founding of New China, Sino-US relations deteriorated, and in the friendship between Japan and the United States, the United States handed over the sovereignty of Liuli Island to Japan, and the United States deployed a large number of military troops on the island, which has now become an important part of the blockade of China.
The third place is Vladivostok, a peninsula now known as Vladivostok, located in the northeastern part of Eurasia, at the southernmost tip of the Amur Peninsula. The area of this area is about 331.16 square kilometers, and the number of people living in this area is about 600,000.
During the Qing Dynasty, Vladivostok was still Chinese territory, as evidenced by the Treaty of Nebuchu signed with Tsarist Russia during the Kangxi Dynasty, in which it was clearly stated that the area outside the foreign trial was under the jurisdiction of the Qing Dynasty. In 1858, the Qing government was forced to sign the Treaty of Yaohun. The treaty stipulated that the Chinese territory east of the Ussuri River would be under the joint jurisdiction of China and Russia, which also made Russia full of reverie about this place and bought the disaster for China to lose Vladivostok in the future.
Two years later, the Qing government signed the Sino-Russian Treaty of Beijing with Russia to cede Vladivostok and Sakhalin Island. At that time, Vladivostok was still a small fishing village with no value, but with the development of the times, this area has become russia's largest port city on the Pacific coast, and it is also the largest city in the Russian Far East and one of the main cultural, educational and scientific research centers.
The fourth island is Sakhalin Island, which was ceded with Vladivostok under the Sino-Russian Beijing Treaty, which was once China's largest island. The island is located in the northeast of Asia. Sakhalin Island is southeast of China's Heilongjiang Province and south of Japan's Hokkaido, so Sakhalin Island has strong ties with China, Russia, and Japan.
Historically, China was the first country to discover and administer Sakhalin Island. As early as the 2nd century BC, there was a record of Sakhalin Island in the Chinese Classic of Mountains and Seas. The Tang Dynasty established the Heishui Governor's Mansion and brought Sakhalin Island under the jurisdiction of the Tang Dynasty. At the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, the imperial court began to deploy troops to Sakhalin Island.
Until the end of the Qing Dynasty, due to the inaction of the government and the chaos of internal and external troubles, sakhalin islands far outside China were neglected, and Sakhalin islands were not deployed by the Qing Dynasty. As a result, Sakhalin Island was invaded by foreign forces.
These lands ceded from the map of China are a microcosm of China's modern history of humiliation. History proves that poverty and backwardness will lead to imperial aggression, and if there is no ability to resist foreign enemies, then the country will be torn apart, the people will be in dire straits, and there will be no national dignity to speak of.
Only when the country is strong can it protect its country from aggression, and China's modern era is a bloody lesson. But remembering history does not just mean hatred, we should take history to heart and strive to strengthen our own countries.
