Because of its very small size, thin strength, and the desolation of the desert, the thorn-horned devil lizard is basically difficult to prey on other creatures, and its only food source is only black ants that are thinner than it. Under normal circumstances, the thorn-horned devil lizard will judge according to its own experience, relying on its own protective color to hide on the road where the black ants pass, quietly waiting for the arrival of the black ants. The desert rarely has water all year round, and it occasionally rains a little, but the more secure water source is the dew at night. How to collect this water is a big problem in front of the thorn-horned demon lizard. In order to cope with this problem, each small spiny horned devil lizard will find a hard stone or a few large grains of sand under the guidance of its parents from birth, and then use them to constantly rub its unfinished back, grinding and grinding until a "small ditch" is formed on their back. The purpose of this is that when it rains in the desert, the rainwater can flow down the "ditch" on the back of the ridge into the mouth of the thorn-horned devil lizard, so that it can drink water! This is a painful challenge, because the whole process of grinding the back of the ridge usually lasts for many months, and each time, the thorn-horned devil lizard has to endure great pain, allowing stones and grains of sand to grind the back of the ridge to a blur of flesh and blood until the "ditch" is fully formed.
In addition to "diverting water", the "ditch" on the back of the ridge has another function, that is, to store dew. For most of the year, the spiny horned devil lizard survives on the dew of the desert at night. In order to obtain dew, the thorn-horned devil lizard needs to stay under the plant and quietly guard it for a night, so that the "ditch" on the back can collect a few small water droplets discharged by the plant, and if it can't hold on, if it can't be insisted on, if it moves or moves slightly, it will miss the water droplet.
