Tonight, March 7, 2018, soprano Daniela de Niz will take to the stage of the National Theatre with the prestigious Lucerne Festival String Orchestra to perform the classic opera arias of the Austrian composer Mozart of the classical period and the singing of 20th century Broadway musicals.

In 1938, the Italian conductor Toscanini founded the Lucerne Festival in the Swiss town of Lucerne, and for 80 years, the Lucerne Festival has become the most high-profile event in the classical music industry. In 1956, conductor Rudolf Baumgartner and violin master Wolfgang Schneiderheim jointly established the Lucerne Festival String Orchestra, a string orchestra composed of 17 string players and 1 harpsichordist, which gradually became one of the most high-profile chamber orchestras in the world, and was warmly welcomed by the audience every time it appeared at the festival. Australian soprano Daniela de Niz, who appeared with the Lucerne Festival String Orchestra, was a first-class star on the opera stage.
At tonight's concert, de Niz will join hands with the Lucerne Festival String Orchestra to perform the theme of "From Mozart to Broadway" for the audience, connecting the two artistic genres of classicism and twentieth-century popular music with a singing voice and melody. In the first half, the Lucerne Festival String Orchestra will begin with a classic Mozart's String Frolic in D major, opening the concert with a fresh, fluid and cheerful string melody. In the second half of the concert, there will be a noticeable change in the style of the repertoire, with de Niz singing the classic song "Dream with Me" from the musical "Peter Pan", the famous singing "I Am Beautiful" from "West End Story" and the singing segment "A Little Heartbeat" from "Fantastic Town". These segments are in the style of the golden age of American Broadway musicals in the middle of the last century, with relaxed and melodious tunes and playful rhythms. In addition, the audience can also listen to the classic singing sections of the musical "Funny Girl", "Flower Drum Drama", "Painting the Edge" and other works. In particular, it is worth mentioning that the musical "Flower Drum Drama" was created by composer Richard Rogers and playwright Oscar Hammerstein II based on the novel of the same name by Chinese writer Li Jinyang, and the classic singing "Like to be a girl" will make Chinese audiences feel more intimate.
