On January 9, the official website of the Winter Youth Olympic Games announced the mascot of the 2020 Lausanne Winter Youth Olympic Games: yodli.
The mascot is a blue animal that combines cows, goats and St. Bernard dogs. The design and name are derived from the students of the Romande School of Art and Communication. It is reported that 140 students participated in the design of the mascot.
The mascot's name, yodli, is derived from a traditional form of singing in Switzerland and parts of France, "yodel", which means that the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held in both countries. In addition, shepherds often use this form of singing to summon flocks. The mascot is based on three animals endemic to Switzerland: cows, goats and St. Bernard dogs.
The 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland, from January 9 to 22 of that year, with 1,880 players competing.
