Many ancient Chinese literati loved to collect books and collect classics, and there are "Zhuangzi Tianxia Chapters" in which there are: "Huishi has many parties, and his books are five cars." "This is an earlier record of the literati's collection in ancient books, which shows that private collections have a long history. At the same time, private collections also led to the birth of library buildings, which gradually developed into a cultural phenomenon.

The name mentioned by the ancients for its library, or quoted the scriptures and history, or had some sustenance, or admired the predecessors. In general, the title of private library building is the most common, followed by building, pavilion, hall and zhai, followed by room, room, house, museum, Xuan, Zhuang and Garden. In ancient times, some bibliophiles had a mentality of showing off when naming the library, among which the "Song Dynasty Building" of Lu Xinyuan, a famous bibliophile of the Qing Dynasty, was the most typical. In his lifetime, he searched for more than two hundred kinds of books published by the Song and Yuan dynasties, and this number needless to say that now, at that time, it was also a unique sea. He named his library "Song Lou", which means double hundred, and it can be seen that Lu Xinyuan is quite proud of the results of this collection.

In addition, the Qing Dynasty bibliophile Fang Gonghui was particularly fond of the "Anthology of Literature", and paid attention to the collection of different versions of the "Anthology of Literature" in his lifetime, and there were as many as ten versions of the Song and Yuan engravings, so his library was named "Ten Selected Texts". Yuan Kewen, a talented man of the Republic of China, received the "Eight Classics" (that is, "Zhou Yi", "Shang Shu", "Mao Shi", "Li Ji", "Zhou Li", "Filial Piety", "Analects", and "Mencius") before his death, these eight books are exquisite and abnormal, the font is as thin as a hair, Yuan Kewen cherished and prepared, and specially set up a library called "Eight Classics Pavilion" for storage.

In order to show the preciousness and richness of their books, some bibliophiles simply take the books they collect to name the library building, or summarize the characteristics of the books they collect and name the library building. Sima Guang of the Song Dynasty named the library "Zhishutang" because of his collection of imperial books; the Qing Dynasty bibliophile Ma Ying collected the Song Ben "Book of later Han" and "Book of Jin", so he named the library "Han Jin Zhai"; the Qing Dynasty bibliophile Huang Pilie's library was many, and he stored books according to categories, one of which contained Northern Song Dynasty pottery poems, and later the Southern Song Dynasty Tang's pottery poems, so this library was named "Tao Pottery Room", and there was also a room containing Song Yanzhou Ben and Jingdeben "Yi Li", because of the "Rites" also known as "Shi Li", This library was named "Shi Li Ju".

Ancient literati often paid attention to the use of scriptures in poetry writing, and for the matter of naming, they should also cite scriptures to express beautiful hopes and specific cultural feelings, which is also reflected in the naming of library buildings.

The wish of every bibliophile in history is that his books will be passed on for a long time, free from water and fire. Ming Dynasty bibliophile Fan Qin's library building is named "Tianyi Pavilion", taking the meaning of "heaven is full of water, the earth is 60%", this building faces the water on four sides, the upper passage is one of the six rooms, and the bookcase is spaced in the middle, which can be called a model of ancient Chinese library architecture.

More bibliophiles have expressed their attitude of reading and learning in the name of the library building. In the Song Dynasty, You Yuan's library was named "Sui Chu Tang", and the word "Sui Chu" was taken from "Sui Chu Fu", which means to resign from the official position and realize the first wish to retire. In the Qing Dynasty, Qian once felt that the "Analects of Shu Er" said, "Shu but not done, believe and be good, and steal better than my old Peng", which is a way of learning advocated by Confucius, so he named the library building "Shu Gu Tang". In the Qing Dynasty, Qian Daxin's library building was named "Ten Driving Zhai", taken from the sentence "Ten Horses and Ten Driving, Meritorious Deeds", which is intended to encourage himself to learn perseverance.
