If it weren't for the infrared camera in Wild Duck Lake, we wouldn't have imagined that Wong Tai Sin would have been so all-powerful on land and water.
But this story, we have to start with the Shanxi Mafang base of the Cat Alliance.
Chen Laoshi rescued a small weasel at the Mafang base.
The little weasel was only a little bit bigger when it was sent, and Chen Lao wet gave it a wooden box with hay, old blankets and the like for it to hide.

After it lived happily inside for a while and grew up, Chen Laoshi took it to our tool room and released it softly.
Apparently it didn't go far, because the rock squirrels that had been rampant in the tool room were gone.
And the two quails that were later raised in the yard of the base (lee sledgehammers from the individuals eliminated from the laboratory) were also eaten by something, and I suspect it was also killed.
Of course, I am still very happy to drive away the squirrels
These squirrels steal bird eggs from the big trees of the base every year, resulting in the failure of breeding of mountain sparrows and common turtles, and even if the weasels do not drive them away, I plan to drive them away.
The rock squirrel © of the base is old and wet
The weasel is a very powerful animal, and everyone says that it will steal chickens to eat.
Although there are some popular science texts that try to justify it, saying that weasels mainly eat mice, I think weasels can eat chickens, otherwise who will eat the base quail?
You can't rely on the ocelot. (The quail is in a net house, and the ocelot must not be able to enter)
We said before that ferrets are basically neurotic, and in fact this madness is also a survival strategy for such small carnivores. (Ferrets are all neuropathies??) Except otters! )
Eurasian Otter: I'm cute
They have a wide range of diets and require very diligent hunting to satisfy their small, fast-moving bodies.
In December last year, I took Bei Bei and Yi Qing to Go to Wild Duck Lake, not to see the birds, but to continue our research with Luo Shujin of Peking University on the Beijing ocelot.
Led by Chun Ge and Zhang Er, who know Wild Duck Lake very well, we installed 13 infrared cameras to try to understand the living conditions of ocelots in the plain wetlands.
At Wild Duck Lake, many birdwatchers have encountered ocelots.

The ocelot © of Wild Duck Lake is Gao Xiangyu
How dense they are in this environment, and what is the difference between their activities and the ocelots in the mountains, are all things we want to know.
But I'm not going to talk about ocelots today.
Because there was a camera that captured the weasels many times! And I often grab a fish when I pass by the camera!
In fact, the weasel is the second most photographed animal in this time, second only to the ocelot (one reason may be that the badgers and raccoons are hibernating so they shoot less), which shows that in the wild duck lake, a place where the ecology is good, they are quite numerous.
This weasel is very interesting, every time it runs past the camera in front of it with empty hands (mouth), and when it runs back, it often grabs a fish, and sometimes the fish is quite large.
At 12:44 on January 15, it passed in front of the camera
At 13:37 on January 15, it came back with a fish
At 13:15 on January 24, it came out again to forage
After 50 minutes, at 14:04, it caught the fish and came back, and then sneaked into the grass
Of course, for this guy who dares to ride a rabbit, the size of the prey is not a problem, as long as it can drag.
But at one point I felt a little tired and put the fish on the ground to rest.
... This fish is a little heavy, I rest, look at the scenery...
Although I often see weasels in the wetlands, and even in the water, I think it is looking for bird eggs or mice.

This is the first time I've seen a weasel catch a fish to eat, and if it wasn't so yellow, I would really think it was a small otter!
I counted, and from January 14th it started running around with fish, and until February 24th, there were 15 times with fish running in front of the camera (at least 15 deaths were lost to wong Tai Sin Mouth!). )。
I wondered a little: in January and February, the water surface was almost frozen, where did it go to get the fish?
In addition, according to the "Chinese Mammal Atlas", the weasel is in heat and breeding in March and May, why does it have to run so far with the fish in the winter and not eat it on the spot?
The book also says that the weasels store food, is it to take the fish home to make salted fish?
It was so much fun!
If weasels can catch fish to eat, is it true that the ocelots of Wild Duck Lake can actually catch fish?
Will it be like Yushu's ocelot stealing otters' fish from home, snatching weasels' fish to eat? (Ocelots visit otter dens and wait for an opportunity to steal otters' grain reserves!) Ocelot or otter? Choose the annoyance of tangles! )
Wong Tai Sin: I used spells to defeat you!
In the past, we only paid attention to the animals in the mountains, so it seems that there is also a very interesting world in the wetlands.
Although the epidemic has affected us, our base is about to open, and it is not known whether the little weasel is still living in our tool room.

What the! Yunnan has a striped ferret? Show me!
Dirty room? You're still one less Than Wong Tai Sin
