Fang Shishu (1692-1751), also known as Xunyuan (一作洵遠), Huanshan (桓山), also known as Little Lion Daoist, was a native of Xin'an (present-day Shexian County, Anhui), and Jiaweiyang (present-day Yangzhou, Jiangsu). Can poetry and painting, calligraphy is strict and delicate, painting pen and ink minjie lingxiu, momentum ups and downs, known as Wang Yuan Qi hou landscape first. Learned from Huang Ding, the landscape is sensitive with pens, the atmosphere is faint, and he has long had the blue eye, which is called a wonderful product. Good at flower sketching. Fu is known as Wucheng in calligraphy. The structure of the line is strict, and the pure learning of Dong Qichang. He died in the middle of his life, and there is a "Ring Mountain Poetry Banknote" in existence.
In terms of the analysis of his heirloom works, his works in middle age obviously have traces of Wang Yuanqi's landscape paintings in the use of pen and ink. However, Fang Shishu was not limited to the rope ink of the "Lou Dong Sect" landscape, but was widely recruited and acquired, and his landscape and water yuanzong Huang Gongwang and Wang Meng, who also studied Shen Zhou in the Ming Dynasty, and Wang Yuanqi, a close teacher, established a style of mellow pen and ink and a clean style, belonging to the literati painting "zhengyi". From the analysis of Fang's heirloom works, his landscape paintings can be roughly divided into two stages, namely, the five years from Yongzheng to Qianlong as the early period, and the later period from the sixth year of Qianlong to the death of Qianlong sixteen years.
