Then I searched through the nearby trees and finally found them all! One of them is very large, with a body length of 265mm!
Because it is in the wild, it is difficult to distinguish species, but Guo Liang judged empirically that this bamboo worm should be a large stick insect called giant tree, which ranks among all the giant insects in the world, and the giant tree is mainly distributed in the tropical regions of Southeast Asia. The stick insects found this time are still in nymph state, and they may grow up to be larger.
Subsequently, Guo Liang consulted an expert who studied the order of stick insects and determined that this was the giant tree that was previously speculated!
Guo Liang: This is the first time that Fujian has recorded this giant tree, it has become the longest recorded insect in Fujian and even East China, originally this species was only distributed in Hainan Island and the south of Yunnan, and later found in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, but the distribution to Fujian Nanping and Sanming is incredible, because the temperature in Fujian is not suitable for their survival, so this should be a tropical relict species that spread here when the temperature rises. At present, Fujian is the northernmost point of the record distribution of the genus Giant Tree!
According to taxonomic research, the original record of Jinping Giant Tree tree in China was merged into Jianfengling Giant Tree. The real Jinping Giant Tree is only visible in India and Myanmar. However, the distribution record of The Jianfengling Giant Tree is as far away as the tropical Hainan and Yunnan, Vietnam.
Insect experts also explain that in fact, the distribution of the Jianfengling giant tree is only pure tropical areas, Guangdong and Guangxi are the species of phryganistria of the genus Buddha (the longest insect in China, and the longest insect holder in the world, the limit size of 64cm (the length of the forefeet to the tail)) has replaced the giant tree, as for which kind of giant tree in Fujian is, it remains to be studied, it is certain that this is a good indicator of the Fujian environment!
