In the Qianlong Dynasty, the filigree enamel process reached its peak, a variety of varieties, ingenious skills, the Qing Palace Office archives, confirmed that a large number of enamelware was made at that time, the style was widely varied, and there were also such ornaments that were elegant and dazzling for gourd bottles. A similar example can be found in the slightly larger gourd bottle from the pierre uldry collection, decorated with gourd vines, bats, "shou" and "swastika", in helmut brinker and albert lutz, chinesisches cloisonne, Zurich, 1985, plate 294.

Qianlong New Year filigree enamel gourd bottle as an example, there is a pair of open-light hollowed out dragon pattern "Descendants Bandai" figure gourd bottles, sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong on April 11, 2008, No. 2809, the bottle body turquoise green, on the gourd vine, white red edge, melon fruit, gilt hollow dragon pattern circular open light on the upper and lower four sides. Another pair of similar examples is from the uldry collection, with ibid., plate 298, and the bottle body is also with an approximate circular skeleton open light. Comparable is also a pair of red ground gourd bottles, the bottle body is made of flowered gourd vine, gourd melon is embellished with black spots, just like this pair of lots, seen in Christie's New York on September 15, 2011, number 1207, broken to Qianlong Year.

The image of the gourd is prolific and blessed, with leafy branches and vines and spotted gourd patterns, which emphasize its auspicious meaning. The rounded body of the gourd and the abundance of the nucleus make it a symbol of prolificity and multiplicity. The slender melon vine represents the endless succession of heirs and represents the generations of future generations. The gourd is one of the Eight Immortals, Li Tie's magic weapon, and it is also inseparable from Taoism because of the gourd.

This pair of gourd bottles, which are particularly rare in circulation and were once held by Prince Arthur of England, the first Duke of Connaught and Strassen (1850-1942), was the third son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and the seventh of the nine brothers and sisters. Prince Arthur served in the British Army for a long time, serving in South Africa, Canada, Ireland, Egypt, and India, and was canonized as a field marshal in 1902, and served as a commander-in-chief in Ireland, a superintendent of the three services in Canada, and a governor-general of Canada.
