"Yao reigned for seventy years... There is a country of branches, a bird of great sacrifice, a pair of eyes, words and eyes. Shaped like a chicken, singing like a phoenix. When the hairy feathers are dissolved, the flesh flies. It can fight against the beasts, tigers and wolves, so that the evil of the demon plague group cannot be harmed. It is a cream, or comes at one age, or does not reach a certain age. The people of the country do not hesitate to sweep the portal in order to look forward to the collection of light. When it did not arrive, the chinese people either carved wood or cast gold, which was the shape of a bird. Placed between the portals, it is enchanting and ugly, and naturally retreats. On the first day of each year, this person either carved wood casts gold, or draws a picture of a chicken on a mound, and this is also its relic. ”
This description explains the era and characteristics of the appearance of the Heavy Ming Bird, and it is more noteworthy that "the present person is carved in gold every year, or the picture is a chicken on the mu, and the image of it is also" The ancient Chinese custom of "painting chickens in households" described in this sentence corresponds to the Zhiwei novel "Xuanzhong Ji" written by Guo Pu of the Eastern Jin Dynasty:
"There was a rooster on the day, and the sun came out, and the light shone on this wood, and the rooster chirped, and the flock of chickens chirped... The present person is making two peach people standing next to the door, placing the feathers in the rope, and covering the remains of the elephant. ”
From this point of view, the worship of the Heavy Ming Bird may be the beginning of the custom of "painting the chicken in the household", and the chicken had the reputation of "the bird of the Five Virtues" in ancient China, and it seems that it did not fall into the "Heroic Name" of the Heavy Ming Bird. In later generations, there is still a legend of the celestial rooster, and Li Bai's "Sleepwalking in heaven and leaving a farewell" has the sentence "Smelling the celestial rooster in the air".
However, just as the six-tailed rhinoceros has the name of "rhinoceros" without the fact that there is no "rhinoceros", the seven-tailed Shigeaki, in addition to having the same name as the Shigeaki Bird, its flying giant insect-like setting simply makes people have the visual sense of alien creatures. Seven-tailed Shigeaki resembles a one-horned fairy with three pairs of dragonfly wings on its tail, and its stretched posture is somewhat similar to that of the face-hugging worm in Alien or the snake girl in Devil May Cry.
