On February 16, 2015, Chinese Ambassador to Mexico Qiu Xiaoqi went to Tijuana to attend the celebration of the 2015 Spring Festival and the 43rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico, jointly organized by the Chinese Consulate General in Tijuana and the local overseas Chinese delegation.
More than 350 Chinese and foreign guests, including all the librarians of the Consulate General in Tijuana, Chinese-funded enterprises, overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese, the mayor of Tijuana, the representative of the governor of Lower California, the commander of the Second Military Region of Mexico, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials of the Immigration Bureau, and other Chinese and foreign guests gathered together to spend a good night.

In his speech, Ambassador Qiu Xiaoqi briefly introduced the development made by China in the past year and the new progress made in Sino-Mexican relations in recent years, and on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, he paid tribute to the vast number of overseas Chinese compatriots.

The cordial rural tone narrowed the distance between the ambassador and the overseas Chinese. The overseas Chinese compatriots were very excited and thanked Ambassador Qiu for coming to Tijuana to celebrate the Chinese New Year with overseas Chinese.
