On July 30, 1905, the Hong Kong International Film Festival Association announced the original title of the opening, closing and premiere of the 44th Hong Kong International Film Festival (hkiff44), affirming a number of excellent works. At the same time, the association determined that although the four competitions of the "Firebird Award" could not be screened publicly for the time being, they would be selected according to the original plan.
The two opening films of this year's film festival are "Good Film" directed by Wen Nianzhong for the first time and about the life of the famous director Xu Anhua Guangying, and Xu Chengjie's first work "Lonely Taste". The closing film is the popular manga adaptation of the popular manga "Love in the End of the Road" by the famous Japanese director Yuki Yuki, and the three masterpieces were originally scheduled to be premiered at the film festival.
Xu Anhua, a famous director who will soon be awarded the Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement Award at the Venice Film Festival, became the protagonist for the first time in the opening film "Make a Good Movie", and has captured the ups and downs of her 40-year light and shadow career in the years of partner Wen Nian, and her unswerving dedication to the film is touching. "Lonely Taste" from Taiwan, dominated by heavyweight actresses such as Chen Shufang and Xie Yingxuan, delicately portrays the ups and downs of mother-daughter affection, touching the heart. In the film "Love in the End of the Road", which closes for the film festival, the perfect interpretation of Okura Tadao and Narita Ling is even more unforgettable under the emotional lens of Xing Dingxun.
In addition, a number of high-profile new works will also be premiered at the festival, including Taiwanese director Cai Liang's new work "Days", Hong Kong director Yang Fanyong's hand-drawn animation "Jiyuantai No. 7" (director's version), Singaporean director Tan Chi Man's thriller "Residual Shadow Space", Hong Rongjie's "Ostomy Man" directed by and adapted from the semi-autobiographical script of late artist Li Zhichao, and Taiwanese director Cheng Youjie's suspense thriller "Dear Tenant".
The four competitions of the "Firebird Awards", including the "Rookie Film Competition (Mandarin)", "Rookie Film Competition (World)", "Documentary Competition" and "International Short Film Competition", will be participated in by a total of 42 works, and a total of 12 awards will be selected by an independent jury to encourage and support emerging directors to be creative and discover potential actors. In addition, this year's International Union of Film Critics Awards winners are tentatively scheduled for August 20.
