Synopsis: The film tells the story of Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a New York diamond shop owner who is addicted to gambling, has a precarious marriage, and has an unfaithful girlfriend. Howard Ratner owes money to the gambler (Eric Burgson), and the thugs keep threatening to pay him back. When he bought a multimillion-dollar batch of rare uncut Ethiopian opal, he felt his bad luck would end there. The stones were meant to be auctioned off, but when Boston Celtic superstar Kevin Garnett walked into the gem shop hoping to rent them because they would bring him good luck in the NBA Finals, things got even more complicated.
