According to the Iranian Student News Agency, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh announced on the 19th that the country's head of Western European affairs summoned Makar on the same day and asked him to explain why during the Iranian presidential election held this week, some cities, including London and Birmingham, have sabotaged election activities, not only voters and administrators have been verbally insulted, but also voters have been beaten by extremists. Khatibzadeh said the Iranian side strongly protested that the British government and police failed to fulfill their duty to protect polling stations and voters.

Hattibuzadeh also said that the Iranian side also protested against some British media, including the BBC Persian version and the British-based Iranian international television station, trying to incite people to carry out street protests and disrupt the election process. Makar said he would convey Iran's protests to the British government.

Voting in Iran's 13th presidential election officially began at 7:00 local time on the 18th. According to the data released by the Iranian Ministry of The Interior on the 19th, Iranian Judicial Director Ibrahim Lehi has obtained 17.8 million votes in Iran's 13th presidential election, a significant lead over other presidential candidates. Three other presidential candidates have congratulated Lehi on his victory.
