Arachnothera longirostra Small bird with a body length of 14–16 cm. The mouth is long and pointed and curved downwards. The upper body is olive green, the eyes and short eyebrows are grayish white, the wings and tail are dark brown, the outer feathers are olive green, the feathers are grayish brown, and there is a black longitudinal stripe along the larynx from the base of the mouth. The chin and throat are grayish white , the rest of the underparts are bright yellow , and the thorax is orange-yellow. Females do not have brightly colored thoraxed feathers.
China is found in the lowland and hilly forests of western Yunnan, up to 2,000 meters above sea level; sordida is found in southeastern Yunnan.
Spiders are used as the main food, and occasionally prey on other small insects, flying very fast, strong night vision, and mainly nighttime haunts.
It mainly inhabits evergreen broad-leaved forests and tropical rainforests in the low hills and foothill plains below 1200 m above sea level, and prefers to move and feed in more open areas such as forest edges and sparse forests, and sometimes in trees near the edge of the ground and villages.
The breeding season is from April to June. The nest is found in dense evergreen broad-leaved forests at an altitude of 400–1000 m, and consists of leaf veins that are fixed under large leaves. Each clutch lays 2 eggs, the eggs are white and slightly pink, covered with reddish-brown spots, which are dense at the blunt end, often forming a ring around the blunt end, and some eggs are white and have purple-black spots. The size of the eggs is 17.0-19.1 mm × 12.5-13.9 mm.
