However, when Wang Dongxing, who came with Chairman Mao, saw it, he immediately asked the staff to remove it, saying: "The chairman is the same everywhere, four dishes and one soup per meal, and the standard of food is two yuan and five cents per day, and no more than one penny." ”
The local leaders did not dare to disobey, so they had to leave four small dishes, add a bowl of soup, and the rest of the dishes were all withdrawn.
That night, after Chairman Mao finished eating, he also specially instructed the staff not to dump the remaining dishes and to keep them for eating tomorrow morning.
The next day, when the locals heard that Chairman Mao had returned, they all sent local specialties, such as bamboo shoots, bacon, etc. Chairman Mao gladly accepted, saying that he had not eaten bamboo shoots from Jinggangshan for a long time, but instructed the secretary to pay for it.
Chairman Mao also specially asked the staff: "There is no red rice eaten here?" ”
The staff said yes, and Chairman Mao was very happy and specifically asked to eat red rice every day at noon.
Chairman Mao stayed in Jinggangshan for seven days, and on May 29, when he was ready to leave, he asked wu Liandeng, the secretary of life, to check out.

The manager was anxious and said, "Even if I agreed, the people of Jinggangshan would not agree!" ”
Wu Liandeng explained for half a day, and he was also anxious, and finally said: "If I don't settle the accounts today, I won't go back, and Chairman Mao won't leave!" ”
The managers saw that there was really no way, so they had to agree and accept Chairman Mao's food expenses for the past 7 days, a total of 17.5 yuan.
To this day, this receipt is still preserved in the Jinggangshan Memorial Hall, witnessing Chairman Mao's honesty and self-discipline.
In fact, this is also chairman Mao's consistent code of conduct throughout his life, as early as 1933, there was a story, and there is a similarity with this story.
It was in August 1933, when Chairman Mao and a few people came to The TianTian District of Changsheng County, Jiangxi Province, to investigate, and instead of informing the local responsible person, they lived directly in an ancestral hall of the district government.

Wu Jiqing went to the Ministry of Finance of The Shotian District and said that he would pay for food and lodging, and the administrator of the Ministry of Finance said: "Chairman Mao came down to inspect, what other food and accommodation fees did he pay?" No need to pay. ”
Wu Jiqing said: "This is Chairman Mao's stipulation, and it must be paid, and not a penny can be less." ”
The administrator still did not accept it, and in the end Wu Jiqing had no choice but to take the money and leave, catching up with Chairman Mao.
When Chairman Mao saw Wu Jiqing coming up, he asked him, "Is everything settled?" ”
Wu Jiqing talked about what had just happened, saying that the administrator would not accept anything and had to give up.
When Chairman Mao heard this, he was very angry and rebuked Wu Jiqing, saying: "If he doesn't accept it, he won't give it to you?" What an attitude this is! I have to pay the price everywhere I go, how can you leave without giving money? ”
Wu Jiqing bowed his head and did not dare to speak, and Chairman Mao said: "You should go back immediately now, and you must settle the money and come back again!" ”
As Wu Jiqing was about to leave, Chen Qihan, who was traveling with Chairman Mao, said: "Chairman, it is not early in the morning, and the road is too far, so you should go first, and when I go back to take charge of this matter." ”
