Mango leaf-clipping weevil

Damage:

1. After laying eggs on both sides of the midrib of young leaves, the female adults bite off the leaves laterally near the base, leaving a knife-scissor-shaped leaf base, causing harm.

2. Adults bite the epidermis and flesh of young leaves, leaving a white transparent epidermis, causing the leaves to shrink and dry up.

3. The larvae feed on the leaf flesh in the young leaves, and the affected leaves can see meandering tunnels, then expand into patches, leaving only two sides of the epidermis, and finally dry out.

Habits of life

Overwintering: Overwinters in the soil with larvae, and the overwintering larvae are feathered from mid-March to early April of the following year.

Adults: Eggs are laid on both sides of the front midrib of the young leaves before and after greening (less damage after the leaf color turns green), 1-20 grains per leaf, and most of them are cut from the base of the leaf (about a quarter of the leaf length left) after spawning. The eggs laid are allowed to land with the leaves, and the egg period is 2-3 days. The activities of adult insects are mostly carried out in the morning, with obvious upward, cluster and tenderness, and in case of disturbance, they will fall to the ground or fly away. Cut 80-145 leaves per female adult. The adult stage is 2-3 months.

Larvae: After hatching, they feed from the main vein to the leaf flesh, and the zigzag tunnel can be seen, the larval stage is 5 days, and the pupa is soiled after aging, and the soil habitat period is 12 days. Peak periods: May to June and early September to mid-October.

Prevention and control methods

: Combined with weeding, fertilization and winter shoot control, pine turning of the garden soil to kill the pupae in the soil.

: Timely clean up and burn the young leaves that have been bitten off and fall to the ground, eliminate eggs and larvae, and reduce the mouth of the next generation.

Pharmacy control:

: Spray once every 7 days during the peak of adult pests, 2 to 3 times a time, 5 cm long.

90% of the dichlorvos 800 times liquid, or 80% of the dichlorvos plus 40% of the fruit 1000 times the liquid, or 2.5% of the enemy kill, quick kill 2000 ~ 3000 times the liquid.
