The broadfin is one of the more beautiful ornamental fish I have. It has a good skin, bright colors, and is very popular. While we learn about the broadfin carp, we inevitably come into contact with the albacore and the horsefish. Because of the similarity of appearance, it is often difficult to distinguish the difference between the three.
Belonging to the same family of carps, they have many similarities. For example, the body color state of the albacore and the broadfin carp is similar to the body shape, in the wild environment, it is difficult to distinguish whether the longfin carp or the broadfin carp is caught, and even the difference between the horsefish and them is very small.

From the appearance point of view, in fact, the first thing can be recognized is the horsefish. Its mouth is relatively large and W-shaped, while the mouth of the albacore is basically flat, with only the shape of a W if there is none. Broadfin carp is not at all W-shaped. Therefore, it is relatively simple to distinguish the mouthfish by mouth type. Even if the wild environment is relatively poor, the mouth shape alone can quickly identify the horsefish.
The real trouble is the difference between the albacore and the broadfin. The albacore is the upper orifice and the broadfin is the lower inlet. It is generally kept in an aquarium for easy observation, but it is more difficult to distinguish in the wild environment.
Although the official name of the albacore is the albacore mackerel, it looks more like the broadfin carp, and if it is not compared, many friends will confuse it with the broadfin carp.
They all have blue transverse bands. The transverse band of the albacore is slightly narrower (as shown above) relative to the broadfin carp, but in the absence of comparison, its transverse band is relatively wide. The broad-finned strife are wider and even plate-like. The basic transverse band will be a broadfin carp, but the horizontal band that is not so thick is not necessarily a broadfin carp.
Although many articles say that you can see the horizontal belt to distinguish between the two kinds of fish, it is also necessary to have a clear contrast, or play more, have a certain experience as a basis.

Secondly, it can be judged according to the fins of both sides. The pectoral fin of the albacore is relatively long, reaching the base of the ventral fin, but the fin of the broadfin is only a little wider, but it is far less long than the albacore.

Finally, you can also distinguish between the two species of fish from the region. The distribution range of the broad-finned carp is wider, and it is said that it is widely distributed in a large area in the eastern part of China, reaching heilongjiang to the north. The albacore is mainly distributed in the south and Taiwan Province of China.
In this way, most of the people that can be caught in the north are broadfin carp. If you catch it in the south, you need to carry out a series of identifications to determine the species.

From the current situation, the broadfin carp is obviously more popular among these three fish, because the horse mouth likes to eat fish, as long as there are small fish in the fish tank, it will be poisoned and killed, so it is not suitable for polyculture. The albacore is not less ornamental than the broadfin, but its distribution is not as wide as that of the broadfin, and its vitality is not as strong as that of the broadfin.
In fact, raising wide-finned carp also has to bear a lot of risks, such as jumping cylinders, crashing cylinders, violent deaths, etc., but from the overall point of view, wide-finned carp is more popular.
