The cat and dog cosplay show 100 years ago was dumb and cute

This set of photos is from animal photographer Harry Whittier Frees. He had spent his life photographing animals, and the photographer, born in 1879, had a chance look at a birthday party in 1906 when he snapped a picture of a cat wearing a hat. The postcards he made from this photograph were so popular that everyone ordered them from him, and Harry's new venture began.
The models photographed ranged from Harry's own cat to neighbors or friends. Costume props are handmade by all kinds of rags, threads, sticks and other waste materials he found. Most of them were from Harry's mother.
In order to capture the position of the cats and dogs standing up, Harry said that the only thing that could be done was to wait with peace of mind. "Those seemingly unique angles or photographs are actually through infinite patience, as well as the love and friendliness of animals that are rooted in the photographer's heart."
Harry will design a variety of rich small scenes for these cats and dogs to make them look more funny and cute, and he is very keen to match the cats and dogs with anthropomorphic pictures and lines. "The key to success or failure is speed. But during the shoot you will find that the lens speed is always not fast enough. ”
"Animals, unlike humans, cannot maintain a posture for a long time. To place them entirely in an unfamiliar situation would be troublesome. ”
Harry attaches a simple sentence to the top of each photo and makes it into a delicate postcard or fairy tale book. To this day, it is very collectible.
^ "What exactly is delaying my dinner?"
Harry says he would shoot other animals, rabbits, pigs, rats, or something. But my favorite is to shoot cats.

In 1906, the first cat with a hat was filmed and made into a postcard, which was well received. As a result, his career had to take a turn for the better, and he began to focus on taking a series of photos of animal costumes, and made them into calendars, children's books, etc., which have always been popular with people.
