According to information released by the police, the crime occurred on July 11, 2015. Detectives from No. 37 of the Serious Crimes Unit (WeChat id: zhonganzu37) found that after the incident, Wu Xieyu was active in Fuzhou, Beijing and other places, forging his mother's resignation letter and defrauding his relatives of huge sums of money, and it was reported that he also fell in love with a sex worker and took out more than 100,000 dowries to propose to the girl. Later, he disappeared like a mystery.

On July 11, 2015, the information registration form provided by the insider showed that the suspect Wu Xieyu was suspected of escaping after killing Xie Tianqin at his mother Xie Tianqin's residence that day. After that, Wu Xieyu stayed in the vicinity of his home for more than ten days.

From July 12 to July 23, according to the police investigation, Wu Xieyu purchased activated carbon, plastic film, wallpaper, vacuum compression bags and so on dozens of times. A month ago, he also purchased knives, tarps, plastic sheets, isolation suits, doctors and nurses' uniforms, etc. through the Internet, of which only knives purchased kitchen knives, scalpels, carving knives and saw blades.

In July 2015, Xie Tianqin's relatives received text messages from Wu Xieyu one after another. The text message was to the effect that he was going to work as an exchange student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States, and his mother went to accompany him to study. The two will take a July 25 flight to the United States. Police sources said that during this period, Wu Xieyu borrowed money from a number of relatives and friends through mobile phone text messages, qq, etc., with a total loan of 1.44 million yuan. At the end of the month, a neighbor said that he had seen Wu Xieyu, and Wu Xieyu said that he wanted to study in the United States. "He said to come back and do something, and his mother was in Beijing."

In July 2015, Wu Xieyu left Fuzhou by train. In the following six months, he was active in Fuzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Henan and other places. According to media reports, Wu Xieyu also met a Henan sex worker working in Shanghai and offered him a dowry of more than 100,000 yuan.
