Eleven immortals
It is the most alternative species in this genus, and is very close to the octagonal butterfly in the butterflyfish. It is called the Eleven Immortals because there are exactly eleven black longitudinal stripes on the fish's white body, the first passing through the eye and the last at the base of the caudal fin. In the Western Pacific, the eleven-room fairy is considered a common variety, but it is currently rarely seen in trade. Because the fish are difficult to catch, they live very vigilantly near coral reefs, and once someone dives, they quickly burrow into the crevices of the stones.
People have different opinions about the difficulty of raising this angelfish, some people think it is very rough and easy to raise, others think it is impossible to feed at all. This is probably another evil drug hunting thing, for this kind of vigilant little immortals, it is difficult to get them out of the water without drug anesthesia. If you buy a fish caught by medicine, you will naturally not survive.
Kang's eleven immortal bodies are shiny, and they will look for food everywhere even in poor condition. It will adapt to the environment quickly after being introduced into the aquarium. Frozen shrimp can be initially induced to eat, and then gradually switched to artificial feed. When the water quality is not good, the bodies of the eleven immortals will be slightly blackened, and this feature is also evident in medicinal fish and disease fish. I feel that these fish must be raised in aquariums of more than 400 liters, because they are very active and if the living space is cramped, it will lead to a decrease in health.
Cocoa Fairy
Cocoa Fairy is a well-known little angelfish, produced in the waters of Coco Island in the eastern Pacific Ocean, and its popularity in the world is no less than that of the Flame Fairy. As I said earlier, the small angelfish produced in places such as Cocoa Island are more expensive, and the cocoa fairy is naturally a valuable fish. It is very close to the cheap stone beauty, and unsuspecting enthusiasts do not understand why this "stone beauty" is so expensive
Speaking of cocoa immortals, it is impossible not to mention the Easter Island immortals, the two of them are close relatives, except for the color, the body shape is exactly the same. Some people believe that the Easter Island Immortals only dyed the yellow part of the Cocoa Fairy dark red. Because of the name, the Easter Island immortals are only produced in the famous Easter Island waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean, and the price is higher than that of the cocoa immortals.
Cocoa is not difficult to adapt to the artificial environment and artificial feed, but the water quality requirements are very high. Of course, enthusiasts who can painstakingly get this angelfish in their hands are certainly not unfamiliar with the maintenance of water quality. Most people use it to embellish the beautiful coral aquarium. Some precious corals are paired with delicate cocoa immortals, which is the dream of enthusiasts. That's so beautiful
I don't know if this fish can live normally without corals and reefs. The individuals I met in the trade were all raised in reef ecological aquariums. I never dared to joke with this precious angelfish, and naturally I raised it "in search of rules and guides". It can accept any artificial feed and eats it the day after introduction. I once said that a quarantine box was kept in a corner of a reef aquarium for sale. But the fairy was very nervous and did not eat. Especially when the lighting is turned on, it is so nervous that it even twitches. I was worried about its safety, and finally released it into the water body. If the newly introduced cocoa fairy is stocked in a body of water less than 200 liters, it will be very nervous, I think its guts are too small. Do not use flash when taking pictures of new fish, a water tribe trading company in Hong Kong has a record of Coco Xian being scared to death by flash
Stone beauty
At present, the stone beauty people sold in the market are mostly captured in the coral seas of Indonesia and the Philippines, and there are also a small number of individuals produced in the South China Sea.
Individuals native to the Philippines have a serious problem with drug capture, which can cause damage to internal organs and nervous systems. Depending on the variety, the degree of damage caused is also heavy. For example, the rough and easy to raise snapper, even if it is poisoned, most of it can still be self-degregated when put into the aquarium, and soon it will start to eat and drink foolishly and live happily. Some of the other small angelfish in the same family as Shimeiren can mostly save their lives after poisoning, but they destroy the reproductive system and cause lifelong infertility. That's okay, after all, few people study the reproduction of marine fish. However, Shi Meiren's poisoning was much more serious. The drug invaded the gastrointestinal tissues and gills of the stone beauty, so most breeders either watched them die of poison or reluctantly let them starve to death without eating. Fortunately, some reputable vendors quickly degrade the drug after the drug fish enters the temporary pond, which can greatly reduce the mortality rate of poisoning.
Tiger fairy
If the newly introduced tiger fairy is fed artificial feed at the beginning, it will attract their neglect. Delicious shrimp meat or prawns must be provided at the time of initial rearing. Larvae of 3--5 cm are best kept in reef ecological aquariums, where they need to be replenished with various small creature "snacks" from the bio rocks. As the Tiger Fairy grows up, it may begin to bully the Fire Immortal or Fireback Immortal who lives together. It is recommended to keep this fish at an individual disadvantage when polycultured with other small immortals
Most of the tiger fairy from the Philippines carries a belanted tube worm, which should be treated with 25 ml/100 liters of formaldehyde solution after the arrival of new fish, and it is best to isolate and observe for about 10 days. Bacteria and Vibrio can easily invade the mouth of this fish, and many fish have obvious symptoms of disease after arriving at the fish shop, such as the mouth cannot be closed, dark spots or bleeding on the body. Fish in this condition generally cannot be cured, do not introduce it into your aquarium. If they are bred with black-tailed fairies, wars between them will be very frequent. These two species of fish seem to be predestined enemies of previous lives and cannot adapt to being together
Tiger fairy has a bad habit of biting mollusks, especially the delicious five-clawed shellfish, although they can not eat the five-clawed shellfish, but frequent raids will cause this bivalve animal to be unable to grow healthily. Tiger fairy is very interested in coral wounds and seaweed buds, they can start from the coral wounds, gradually eat the whole coral, and then use vitamin C-rich seaweed buds to appetize. When reared at the same time as corals and seaweed, ensure that the corals are healthy and that there are sufficient quantities of seaweed
Blue-eyed yellow bride
This is a species close to the yellow bride, but not as widely distributed as the yellow bride, mainly collected in the western Indian Ocean region. Earlier, it was thought that the blue-eyed yellow bride was also a regional species of the yellow bride, but current taxonomy separates them. This fish is called "lemon batch" in Hong Kong, China, lemon is used to describe the bright yellow color of this fish, and the specific meaning of "batch" is not known. Like yellow brides, blue-eyed yellow brides of different origins have different appearances, some individuals appear brown or beige, and some have blue patterns or patterns in the middle of the body.
This fish rarely appears in the domestic ornamental fish market, and the price is quite high. Someone, after seeing this fish for the first time and asking about the price, exclaimed, "Why is the price of this yellow bride with two more blue circles several times higher?" ”。 Nevertheless, blue-eyed yellow brides are much easier to raise than yellow brides, and they can accept artificial flakes for a shorter period of time, and they can also accept pellet feed smoothly. And it's rare to bother you to induce them with shrimp meat first, they can tell what to eat and what's better.
Blue-eyed yellow brides and corals can be safely bred together, and they do not harm coelenterate animals. Don't keep them in aquariums without concealment, they are very timid breeds, there is no place to hide, it is their greatest pain, it will cause loss of appetite or weakened resistance
Coral Beauty
In the past, this little angelfish was called blue lightning, and it was not until many individuals who were not very blue were captured that people gradually began to use the name coral beauty. Coral beauties are widely distributed in the coral reef waters of the Indo-Western Pacific region, and because of their wide distribution, there are great differences in regional species. Most of the bodies of individuals produced in Indonesia are dark blue, with only the abdomen showing slightly dark red marks. Individuals in the Philippines are mostly golden-red , with only the fins and head blue. There are also some varieties that fall in between. Many people think that red is more likely to be male, and blue is more likely to be female. It is true that the male is prettier than the female, but it does not make such a big difference. Individuals in the southern region of the Philippines, in particular, have simply turned completely golden red.
Since the name is Coral Beauty, it is natural to be raised with corals, they do not bully any breed of coral, and they are not very interested in other invertebrates. When a coral beauty emerges from a crevice in a hidden stone the day after its introduction, it can be instructed to eat artificial feed. It may not accept it at first, it doesn't matter, it will eat everything after a few meals. In the aquarium with a sufficient amount of biological stones, even if it is not deliberately fed, the coral beauty will find some seaweed and micro-insects to resist hunger. If it is hungry enough to choose food, it may go to peck at soft corals. I felt that as long as the fish in the aquarium were fed, then the coral beauties could always grab some and not have to worry about them starving to death.
Leopard fairy
The angelfish, which is not readily available domestically, has been imported into Japan and Germany in more quantities than elsewhere in the world combined. Japanese and German enthusiasts prefer to dot the lush coral aquariums with colorful angelfish. They looked at how to keep the polyamorous fish that like to disturb the corals harmoniously with the corals, presumably by keeping the corals in an absolutely healthy state and maintaining an adequate food source for the angelfish. Enthusiasts in other countries and regions, like us, often have a headache that this little fairy is difficult to raise safely in the reef ecological aquarium and cannot survive in the pure fish tank for a long time.
Like many little fairies with multiple names, you can also call this fish "Leopard Bride". It is native to the Hawaiian Islands, including the Johnston Atoll area, and some individuals are also found in the southern waters of Japan. Many beginners can easily confuse this fish with centropyge aurantius because they all have a confused pattern. Kirin immortals are produced from the Malay Islands to the south Pacific sea, it is very difficult to obtain, it and the leopard fairy is actually very different, in terms of body background color, leopard fairy body background color is dark blue, and unicorn fairy body background color is golden red. It is not easy for the unicorn gods to receive artificial feed, and the natural catch is also very small. Raising leopard gods requires good water quality, and maintains the stability of hardness and pH, and the adaptation to pellet feed is not good, if fed with frozen fresh feed, they will become very hungry, and it is not easy to discipline it to eat other feeds. However, feeding with frozen fresh feed can solve their habit of biting corals, not only leopard fairies, but also other small fairy fish with disturbing coral habits can use this method to train them to "protect" corals
Yellow Bride
A very common small angelfish that is often mistakenly raised as an entry-level breed because it is cheap. If you buy larvae under 6 cm, you are very lucky, and the fish will most likely survive in your aquarium. If it is to raise 10 cm of adult fish, it is not so simple. Fish that are too large are difficult to adapt to the artificial environment, and they are often caught by illegal means, and the mortality rate is basically 100%.
Indonesia and the Philippines are the main export areas for a type of fish, and it is generally recommended to choose individuals from Indonesia, where the quality is better from experience. Don't breed two yellow brides in an aquarium, they are aggressive by nature, and if they are not careful, they may cause casualties. If it is raised in a reef ecological aquarium, do not mix mollusks and corals, which are their favorite appetizers. If they are raised in pure fish tanks, they will be very nervous, which is a headache. I think that this kind of fish is probably only suitable as an embellishment species in some large aquariums, and it is also pleasant to see them hidden from time to time in large aquariums.
The yellow bride who raises the larvae can first induce it to open her mouth to eat with the shrimp of the harvest year, and then gradually adapt it to artificial feed after stabilization. Flakes are easy to accept, but accepting pelleted feed is difficult. Just said, it is difficult to succeed in raising adults, how to make a 10-12 cm yellow bride eat in an artificial environment, it takes some thought. I usually put the large individuals directly into the pond full of biological rocks after quarantine, let them find some food on their own, and then start using bait to induce after it is safe and stable
However, this fish is easily available and you can buy 10 or 20 fish during the harvest season if you wish. But when they are kept together, they have to worry about whether they fight or not, and there will be no signs of pairing or spawning. Some of the more expensive angelfish we mentioned earlier are easy to breed in artificial environments, why are there such differences between fish of the same genus? I haven't thought it through.
The yellow bride is widely distributed, and there are differences between species in many regions. For example, individuals in the Philippines are mostly black-brown around the eyes in adulthood, while individuals in Indonesia and Malaysia do not have dark-brown eye circles. Some individuals in the Indian Ocean region have red or brown edges at the ends of the dorsal fin and caudal fin, and each fin may also have a light green pattern. These varieties are rare in trade and are not easy to come by. The young fish of the yellow hanging like to imitate the outward characteristics of the yellow bride, and some individuals even imitate it so well that we have to distinguish them by the yellow hanging black gills
Male Sapphire Fairy
The male has a transverse black stripe on its body and is known as the Sapphire King. Females do not have these patterns, have black patches on the top of their heads, and are known as sapphire brides, the sapphire fairy is the earliest breed in the genus to be raised as an ornamental fish, but few people have successfully raised them for decades. It is widely distributed in the Taiwan Strait and the Philippine Coast, but many fish die as soon as they come out of the water during fishing. There are far more Sapphire brides seen in the market than The Sapphire King, and people admire its clear blue color and buy it home. But whether it's kept in a reef ecological aquarium or in a pure fish tank, it's hard to accept any food you offer
Individuals usually kept in reef ecological aquariums live longer than in pure fish tanks, possibly because some of the small creatures living on biological rocks can feed them. I have not observed this fish eating or harassing corals, and can raise them together if they wish.
Lamarck Immortals
The fish was named by the great French naturalist Gaptiste Lemarck, so both the scientific and common names used his name. Stained with the light of scholars, this fish has also been valued in its own genus. Lamarck is one of the few species of fish in this genus that has been successfully raised by people, especially Europeans, who like to keep this angelfish in their own large reef ecological aquariums.
Unlike other species in this genus, Lamarck's females and males are very similar in appearance, especially juveniles, and cannot be distinguished without careful observation. Females have two black stripes on the upper and lower tail fins, the male is smaller than the female, there is no black stripe on the tail fin, and the silk at both ends of the tail fin of the mature male can grow very long, like the tail of a swallow. Therefore, this fish is called "Rama Yan" in Hong Kong. Lamarck fairy can grow up to 20 cm, is a large moon butterfly fish, must be given ample living space when rearing, it is recommended to be no less than 600 liters of water, they do not attack corals and mollusks, can be safely polycultured.
Swallowtail fairy
Individually, it should be classified as a large angelfish family, but it can still live in harmony with corals. Male individuals have tiger-like longitudinal black stripes. The female is not, looks quite like a sapphire bride, but the back is yellowish. In fact, there are several species of moon butterfly fish called this name. Distributed in the Western Pacific, it is the most common species and is generally exported from the Philippines. The individual patterns produced in Indonesia and the western Indian Ocean extend only to the pectoral fin line, also known by this name. Individuals from the Red Sea, with no orange patches at the end of the tail stalk, are known as the Red Sea Tiger Skin King
The fish must be raised in aquariums of more than 800 liters to give them plenty of room to swim. After all, we get individuals over 15 centimeters.
If some fresh seaweeds can be given, they will be easier to adapt to the artificial environment. If not, you can use seaweed to make them open. Try to avoid being raised with reckless fish like red sea knights, which like to attack tiger skin swallowtail fairy with similar postures, although many people have experimented with raising them in pure fish tanks with large angelfish, but they have failed
