Ramirez recalls that she was preparing to put a new bait and thought she had caught some seaweed when she closed the line, but then she saw the "seaweed" start to squirm and realized that "it may be a living thing".
"My mom and I looked at each other questioningly, thinking ' What is this', and I laughed because it was definitely not a fish."
Ramirez said the creature was 3 inches (about 7.62 centimeters) long. "It looks like a super-large earthworm ready for battle, but it has red spines on its body."
"It released my bait on its own so I didn't have to touch it – its color and the way it moved made me feel untouchable. I put it on the railing, and after a few minutes it shook itself into the water. ”
Ramirez said he was a marine enthusiast and was therefore "very curious" about the unidentified creature and took videos and photos and sent them to the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.
USA Today sources said that the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife identified it as a bearded fireworm from the video, and Ramirez was lucky not to touch it.
It is understood that this animal carries a powerful neurotoxin and is able to inject the toxin into the human body through the bristles penetrating the skin. The burning sensation of the wound is said to last for hours and can sometimes cause nausea and dizziness. But they don't often meet people, and are usually only accidentally touched by swimmers.
After the questions were answered, netizens left messages under the social accounts of the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.
Some netizens panicked and said, "No! Worry on land, worry about it at sea? ”

Others praised the animal for being beautiful and wanted to get it back into the water as soon as possible because it "doesn't bother people in the sea." ”
Some people also quipped that this was simply a creature from the movie "The Mist".
Ramirez told the media that he hopes to encourage others to become interested in the natural world by sharing his own experiences. She said, "Take a moment outdoors to enjoy the natural beauty and you may find something interesting." (Text/Second Tube)
