The fish of the subfamily loach are collectively referred to as suckers, which are benthic hyperotropic fish and distributed in various water systems in China. The pectoral and ventral fins of the sucker are broad and flat, forming suction cup-like adsorption organs that can be adsorbed on the surface of stones and pebbles in turbulent streams, scraping algae on stones, occasionally eating some small insects and organic debris, and preferring to inhabit the mountain stream environment with stronger water flow.
There are 8 genera and 44 species of fish in the subfamily Ofital loach in China, including: near-abdominal loach genus, pseudoloding loach genus, proto-tamarind loach genus, proto-sucking loach genus, pseudo-sucking loach genus, resembranding loach genus, and climbing loach genus. Today we have selected a selection of fish that are widely familiar to native fish lovers and simply share them with aquarists.

Guizhou reptile loach: belongs to the genus reptile loach of the subfamily loach. It is distributed in the Xijiang river system. Loach has always been a very delicate fish, no conditions are best not to raise, gui climb can be regarded as one of the best to raise entry-level loach, is especially suitable for novices to get started varieties.
Mae's loach: belongs to the genus Loach of the subfamily Loachiaceae. It is endemic to China and is distributed in the Dongjiang river and Rongjiang river systems in Guangdong, as well as the Jiulong River and Hong Kong. The species' brilliant dorsal fin is very good-looking.
Dongpo Changting pseudo-abdominal loach: belongs to the genus Pseudo-abdominal loach of the subfamily Loach. Mainly distributed in the Pearl River, Rongjiang River system and the mountain streams of jiulian mountains, this species is very similar to the Changting pseudo-abdominal sucker loach, but the body has fewer vertical stripes, a wider mouth, and is geographically isolated.
Thick-lipped probassid: belongs to the genus Protobasid in the subfamily Loachiaceae. This species is only distributed in the mountain stream of the Dayao Mountains in Guangxi in the Xijiang River system, also known as "panda loach", which is a small number and very rare, belonging to the rare fish of China, and has been listed in the "Red Book of Endangered Animals in China" and the "Red List of Chinese Species". Due to insufficient publicity and attention from relevant Chinese institutions, it has not been included in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Wild Animals, nor has it been accepted and protected by other international wildlife protection provisions, that is, this fish is not subject to trade control and legal norms in the world. Driven by profits, origins are being artificially fished and the environment of origins is in jeopardy due to overexploitation and water pollution. Perhaps in the future, we may not see the beautiful figure of this fish again, and I hope that the relevant institutions can strengthen the supervision and protection of this beautiful and rare fish as soon as possible.
Pingzhou proto-tamarind loach: belongs to the genus Proto-loach of the subfamily Loach.
It is distributed in the Pearl River, the Qingjiang River of the Yangtze River, Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake. Signs cylindrical, flat ventral surface of cephalothorax, flattened caudal side, flattened head, slightly wider mouth, curved, with a snout groove in front of the mouth. Xiaobian picked one himself, not big, and he caught one for so long...
Longitudinal loach: belongs to the genus Protobathopterynach in the subfamily Loach. It is distributed in the Minjiang, Lancang and Yuanjiang river systems and tributaries of the Jinsha River.
Pseudoquat loach: belongs to the genus Pseudoquapon loach in the subfamily Loach. Distributed in the Pearl River system, the Guangdong Jianjiang River and the Guangxi Southwest Liujiang River, it is a must-breed fish species for players of the flatfin loach family.
Qiongzhong pseudoquat: belongs to the genus Pseudoquapon loach of the subfamily Loach. Distributed in the Hainan Wanquan River system, etc., it is endemic to China, and the type origin of this species is in qiongzhong and Wanquan river system on Hainan Island.
Taiwanese loach: belongs to the genus Loach of the subfamily Loach.
It is distributed in the water systems from Tamsui River to Turbid Water Creek in western Taiwan, and is endemic to China. In fact, I think the loach is almost the same...
Sichuan climbing loach
Sichuan reptile loach: belongs to the genus reptile loach of the subfamily sucker loach. It is distributed in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and its tributaries Qingjiang, Minjiang, Wujiang, Daninghe and lower reaches of The Yalong River. The anterior part of the body is flattened, the body width is significantly greater than the body height, the head is flattened, and the snout is rounded and blunt. ,
Fang's pseudo-loach: belongs to the genus Pseudo-loach of the subfamily Loach. Distributed in the Beijiang, Xijiang and Yangtze River tributaries of the Xiangjiang River, its performance varies in different distribution sections, such as the Vertical Spots of the Xijiang River, while the Beijiang and Xiangjiang rivers are mainly dotted, and some individuals even have extreme color (as shown above).
Golden loach: Chinese loach, golden loach genus, chongqing key protected animals. Chinese golden loach and short-bodied golden loach are distributed in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, mostly in Chongqing and Hubei, Sichuan, and the production areas overlap, and Chongqing focuses on protecting animals. The adult size of both is much larger than that of other "sucker loach". In particular, the Chinese loach is the largest of all the "sucker loach" that has been found so far.
There are currently only two species of plough loach (Lepturichthys): L. ploughhead loach (L. fimbriata) and L. longfin ploughhead loach (L. dolichopterus), a small benthic fish species. In China, it is distributed in the Jinsha River system. The type origin of this species is in Yichang, Hubei Province. And the genus Loach is endemic to China. The ploughhead loach and the longfin ploughhead loach are morphologically effective species (mainly the length of the even fin), but the molecular differences are small and the degree of differentiation is not high, so the longfin ploughhead loach may still be degraded or merged. For details, see the academic article "Geographical Differentiation Process of Loach Fish species" published in 2012.
Xiaobian recently more obsessed with loach and shrimp tigers, but also try to raise some, if it is a novice then Guizhou climbing rock loach is the best to raise, followed by Fang's and Mai's, if you are wild to pick, remember not to be excited to catch a lot, benthic fish native tank raising a few in fact, try your hand first. It should be reminded again that the subfamily loach is a benthic hyperotropic fish, which prefers to inhabit the mountain stream environment with strong water flow, and is suitable for feeding with stream stone tanks. They are harsh on the water quality environment, do not adapt to eat, usually have the situation of starvation, very squeamish, novices please be cautious. If you can't meet the feeding conditions, please let go of these beautiful species, if you like it, you should know how to protect... Protect China's water resources and watch over China's native beauty!
