When I first pushed open this door through time and space, and my feet stepped on this bluestone slab that carried the imprint of a hundred years of history, a kind of power that condensed a hundred years of righteousness suddenly emerged. Standing here is a strange and familiar feeling, I don't know here, but I know I will belong here.
I grew up in the barren land of Mile Bay, and one evening when I was a child, my father told me that the grandfather who had just driven an old cattle to the mountains was the hero who had participated in the Liberation War. I hurried back, only to see the back of an old man hunched over and faltering in the afterglow. When he was young, with a lot of enthusiasm, he put down his hoe and entered Zhu Jiabi's team, and later, after the battle of Lao Yatun, many people were sacrificed, and this grandfather was unconscious in the battle, and the next day he dragged half his life out of the battlefield...
With so many people sacrificed, what kind of battle was that? From the day my father told me this story, this question has been buried deep in my heart. It wasn't until June 2018, when I first entered the Mile Bay site as a docent, that I walked into the battle of February 1949.
Zhu Jiabi
On February 3, 1949, Zhu Jiabi led his troops to Laoyatun and Pingping to hold a meeting, and ordered more than 300 people from the four brigades of Long Yuxiang and Chang Zhigao to tie down the Kuomintang army and cover the meeting. On the fifteenth day of the first month of February 12, he circled with the Kuomintang 481 Regiment for several days and entered Lao yatun after long Yu Xiang troops completed their tasks. At dawn on the sixteenth day of the first month, the fog filled the mountains, and the village suddenly sounded the sound of gunfire. It turned out that the cunning enemy, after learning that the troops had entered the village, first pretended to go to the direction of Guanzhai to paralyze the guerrillas, suddenly turned back at night, and at the same time surrounded Lao Yatun and shangxia villages, shooting and firing at the village to launch a fierce attack. In the face of the enemy's planned attack, the troops can only disperse the breakthrough, on the way to the back mountain, Long Yuxiang was broken by a bullet leg bone, in a hurry he ordered the troops to stop worrying about themselves and break through quickly, the guard Wang Danen resolutely refused: No, even if you die, you will die together. He took Long Yuxiang to the back mountain. In order to save the troops Long Yuxiang ordered Wang Tingji to lead Chen Xianting, Wang Youliu and 7 others to rush towards the enemy machine gun position, Chen Xianting and 4 other people were sacrificed, Wang Youliu dropped his rifle, picked up Chen Xianting's big carbine, continued to rush to the enemy machine gun position, and finally killed the enemy machine gunners, and some of the fighters broke through..... The next day, Wang Da'en, a guard who woke up from his coma, forcefully pushed away the corpses of the soldiers who were pressing on him and crawled out, only to see smoke, houses destroyed, bones piled up, and empty. And he was the grandfather who drove the old cattle.
Xiongshan Revolutionary Old Area Martyrs' Cemetery
After the Battle of Lao Ya Tun, a song "Lantern Festival" has been sung to this day: Comrades, listen to me, there is an old Duck Tun in the north of Qiubei City, every household celebrates the New Year, and the sound of machine guns is found in the morning of the sixteenth... To commemorate this battle, the old Duck Tun of the past has been renamed to today's "Xiongshan Mountain" and has been named the Wenshan Prefecture Revolutionary Site.
In the hot land of Qiubei, there is He Jihua, the first Communist Party member from Qiubei who "saves his life and throws his life away, and joins the party in times of danger"; there is Wang Chengrong, a hero of Qiubei who "does not fear danger and lives to death" in the face of the devil being cut off alive; Wu Shaojin, the first revolutionary martyr from Qiubei who made a heroic oath with his life: "Bury loyal bones everywhere in the green mountains and sprinkle the plateau with enthusiasm"; heroes are the backbone of the Chinese nation, and the red gene is passed down from generation to generation, and the spark of the stars can be burned.
Mile Bay Meeting Site
At the Mile Bay site, even if there is only one visitor and only one photo, I will explain it carefully as always. Because there are always some people, no matter how much content they have and how long they have stood, they will always listen carefully, sometimes with a solemn face, sometimes with tears in their eyes, and then solemnly revisit the oath of joining the party. At that moment, I felt that it was the transformation that had been baptized by the hero's story, and it was the power of the spark.
Isn't the small us in every ordinary job a glimmer of light?
