The body length of tropical oviparous medaka is generally about 5-6 cm, so the life span is very short, some can only live for one year, and the longest is only two or three years, so if we want to raise them well, we have to work reproduction.
Most of them are very simple, somewhat similar to those of the Medaka and other small oviparous tropical fish, but some species, such as the fire unicorn and the black baby medaka, need to be dried for 3-4 months in peat soil containing fish eggs and then placed in soft water for incubation.
This is also a major feature of many medaka, dry fish eggs can be preserved for three months to two years, the so-called soil can grow fish, perhaps referring to this small egg medaka bar.
Most of the tropical ovate medaka live in weakly acidic soft water, only a few are suitable for hard water, most of them are omnivorous ornamental fish, can be fed frozen bait and can also be fed artificial feed, some species can be polycultured with other small Galatian fish in grass tanks.
Tropical ovate medaka does not like high temperature, the general water temperature requirements at 22-25 degrees, water temperature more than 28 degrees, they are not very adaptable or even sick, and then they have higher requirements for the constancy of water temperature and water quality, do not like the temperature difference is too large and the water quality changes are larger, easy to suffer from white spot disease, because they are small, we must pay attention when choosing.
Tropical oval medaka, our usual more common species are colorful pearl medaka, Gao's round-tailed medaka, fire unicorn, black pearl medaka, golden medaka, multicolored pearl tail wax, Kochsch's false gill and so on.
1. Golden medaka
Golden medaka body length up to twelve centimeters, native to India and other places, is the entry breed of medaka, extremely easy to raise, suitable water temperature 24-28 degrees, pH around 6-7.5, belongs to the middle fish, due to the fast swimming speed, lively, like to eat small fish, so this fish is not suitable for polyculture with smaller ornamental fish.
2. Gao's round-tailed medaka
Gao's round-tailed medaka is native to Tanzania in East Africa, with a body length of about 6 cm, a suitable water temperature of about 24 degrees, a pH between 5.5-6.5, a beautiful body, strong body, liveliness, easy to raise high popularity, like to eat live food, do not like high temperatures.
3. Fire unicorn medaka
Fire unicorn medaka is produced in South Africa, also known as the beautiful baby medaka, which shows that its status in the eyes of medaka fans has multiple, it is as famous and outstanding as the golden medaka, the habit is similar to the black pearl medaka, it is a variety that likes to eat live food, adapt to the temperature should not be too high, and the tolerance to water quality changes is extremely low, it is more difficult to raise medaka species.
4. Black pearl medaka
Black pearl medaka is native to Argentina, South America, adult body length of 5 cm, has a certain aggressiveness, suitable water temperature 24-26 degrees, pH between 5.5-6.5, is also a very beautiful medaka species, often known by aquarists as black baby medaka.
