Celestial bull hazards
Tianniu, also known as iron yak, foot worm and wood borer insect, is a kind of drilling rod pest in the orchard, which can kill a large number of fruit trees and even destroy the garden when it is serious. The main insects are peach, plum, pear, citrus, chestnut, grape, loquat, longan, lychee, jujube and kiwi fruit.

Hazard characteristics
Tianniu larvae have the longest survival time (up to more than 8 months) in the tree body and are the most harmful to fruit trees. The female bites through the bark with her palate to form grooves before laying eggs, and then lays one egg (and many more) in each slot. When the eggs hatch out of the larvae, the young larvae feed under the bark, and when they are older, they burrow into the xylem as a pest, and the larvae move in the trunk, opening the bark at intervals as ventilation holes, pushing out excrement and wood chips outward.
Prevention and control methods
1. Poisonous cotton bandaging: In the peak period of egg laying and larval hatching of Tianniu, 48% of the chlorpyrifos emulsion 5 times the liquid is sucked on the cotton, the old skin is scraped first, the cotton ball is bandaged on the branch, and then wrapped in plastic film on the outside, which can kill the hatching larvae. The effect is good and the duration is long.
2, moth larvae control: advanced larvae into the xylem as a pest, can be diluted with 48% chlorpyrifos 5 times the liquid plus cotton ball into the bottle for backup, when the ventilation hole of the Tianniu larvae is found, use forceps to plug the cotton ball tightly into the hole. When excrement and wood chips cannot be discharged, the larvae of the Celestial Bull will definitely use their mouths to bite the cotton ball to clean the passage, and they will be poisoned at the first bite. I have used this method for decades, hundreds of times, our members do not prevent a try.
