However, it can also be seen from these obvious geographical common sense errors how inconspicuous Wu Zhong is in the hearts of many people! In fact, Wuzhong is a prefecture-level city among the five administrative districts of Ningxia, and its administrative jurisdiction is quite large.
The word Wuzhong first appeared in the history books during the Jiajing period, when Ningxia was being invaded by the little prince of Tatars for a few years. Although it is said that the last emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhengde Zhu Houzhao, in 1517 AD, broke the tatar little prince in Yingzhou, and made the northwest border of the Ming Dynasty peaceful for many years. (Historically known as the "Yingzhou Great Victory", which is a great victory that has been deliberately smeared)
However, after the town of Ningxia was plundered by the little prince of Tatarstan, it was also devastated and could not be recovered for a long time. In the process of this increasingly frequent invasion, the Ming court also saw many loopholes in the defense of Ningxia! Taking advantage of the period when the Tatar tribes had not recovered and the border was temporarily peaceful, the Ming court also began another construction of the town of Ningxia.
In fact, in the early years of Hongzhi, Qin Hong, the trilateral governor of Shaanxi who was stationed in Jieguyuan, saw the drawbacks and planned them when he inspected the Yanchi and Lingzhou areas. He believes that from the north of Guyuan to the "Town of Ningxia" (Yinchuan), it stretches for thousands of miles, hundreds of thousands of hectares of idle fields, the wilderness of Pingchuan, and there is no castle to defend, and it is easy to become the "General Road into Kou". Therefore, he proposed to "build a fort every twenty miles west of Huamachi to Xiaoyanchi, forts of 48 zhang, and 500 forts of the service army" to resist the Kou.
As a result, more Tunbao villages began to appear on this land. It was more than twenty years later, and it was during the Jiajing years that this ambition was fully realized!
Beginning in the ninth year of Hongwu, the Ming Dynasty army entered the Shubian Tuntian in Ningxia and implemented the military household management system and the policy of "integrating soldiers and farmers" to combine the Shubian and Tuntian fields. As a result, ningxia towns in the Ming Dynasty only had a military structure, and there was no local government system of local prefectures and counties. In such a military context, tun forts in the Ningxia Plain began to appear.
The purpose of building a tun is to strengthen the organization and management of the military households of the tun army. During the Ming Dynasty, Shubian Tuntian spread throughout the entire northern border and blossomed everywhere in the nine-sided important towns, but the construction of "castles" was first tried in Ningxia, "each small tun five seven, or four or five, choose a large fort nearby, ring the earthen city, seven or eight feet high or one or two zhang, the city gate eight; surrounded by a hao, wide one zhang or four or five feet, deep and wide, etc., gather each tun grain blade inside." Its small tuns stored up daily grain, and when there were policemen, people and animals entered the fort and held on to them." From the very beginning of Shaogang Fort, Yesheng Fort, Guangwu City, Yuquan Yingcheng, Pingyu City, Hui'an Fort, Qingshui Yingcheng, Xingwu Yingcheng, Heng Castle, Hongshan Fort, etc., to the middle of the Li Junbao, Zenggang Fort, etc.;
By the sixth year of Jiajing (1527 AD), the connection between Hongshan Fort and Lingzhou City was even closer, and between the two places, Wuzhong Fort appeared. This Wu Zhong was originally just a thousand household chiefs of the Lingzhou Shouyu Thousand Households, and it turned out to be a border army of Yan Sui, who performed heroically in the Great Victory of Yingzhou, and then promoted the hundred household chiefs, and then promoted the hundred household chiefs, and then moved to ningxia town and divided them into a small castle where he was stationed.
