On the Great Plains of northwestern Wyoming, usa, stands an isolated giant monolithic rock shaped like a giant tree stump. The local Indians called it "Magic Tower Mountain". After investigation, geologists believe that The Magic Tower Mountain was formed about 50 million years ago.
At that time, hot lava deep in the Earth gushed out of the surface through crevices in the upper rocks, slowly cooled and solidified with the surrounding rocks: when cooled, the rocks contracted, cracks appeared, and polygonal stone columns were formed. Millions of years later, the soft rock around the condensed material was eroded, and a group of polygonal stone pillars slowly revealed. After millions of years of wind and rain erosion, the Magic Tower Mountain has been carved like an artist's axe and machete, and many strange grooves and stripes have been carved, as if they are split and sticking together.
Even more than 100 kilometers away, you can see the strange Magic Tower Mountain standing between heaven and earth. It takes on different colors over time and changes in sunlight. Early western pioneers used it as a signpost. In 1977, in the blockbuster science fiction film "Contact of the Third Kind", Mota Mountain was chosen as the landing site of the alien spaceship in the play.
At the foot of Mota Mountain, there are underground tunnels and caves for prairie dogs. These rodents, the size of hares and bark like dogs, add a touch of life to this desolate and lonely land.
