Solar Impulse (SPI. US) plans to move its corporate headquarters to Santa Clara, California

spi.us announced plans today to move its headquarters from Hong Kong to Santa Clara, California.

"After discussions among the Board members, we agreed that moving our corporate headquarters to Santa Clara will provide the greatest advantage to our business as we continue to focus on expanding our solar business in the U.S. and accelerating the growth of our fast-growing electric vehicle division." Solar Impulse chairman and CEO Xiaofeng Peng said. "The canton of California is a world leader in renewable energy solutions. Solar Impulse was originally founded in Roseville, California in 2006 and we are proud to now officially call California our headquarters for expanding our global presence. ”

It is understood that in 2019, about 33% of California's electricity will come from renewable sources, and the state aims to reach 50% of renewable energy generation by 2025. California is also calling for a halt to sales of gasoline cars by 2035.
