Henan has explored green technology for the prevention and control of green blind bugs in orchards

"If you look at the small holes in the leaves of these grapes, they are all caused by green blind bugs, and these leaves are eaten by green blind bugs at the bud stage, and when they grow up, they become holes, and the leaves with holes will have an impact on the photosynthesis of the plant, thus affecting the yield." In the Henan Provincial Agricultural Ecological Park in Zhongmu County, Henan Province, Researcher Feng Hongqiang, deputy director of the Institute of Plant Protection of the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, pointed to some grape leaves overhead and said, "But compared with previous years, we have effectively controlled the harm of green blind bugs by using green prevention and control technology." ”

It is reported that the green blind bug is a multi-food pest of jujube, grape, cherry, apple, peach, pear, carrot, artemisia, coriander, cotton, broad beans, alfalfa and other fruit trees, vegetables and field crops, with 288 known hosts in 54 families. This pest overwinters with eggs at the winter buds of fruit trees, stumps left by summer shears, shears, skins, etc., and hatches when the winter buds of fruit trees germinate in the spring of the following year, and small nymphs directly suck the young shoots of fruit trees, causing leaf damage, distortion and slow growth. With the growth of fruit trees, it also harms their flowers and young fruits, causing falling flowers, falling fruits and deformed fruits, reducing the yield and quality of fruit trees, and seriously affecting fruit production. After feathering, adult insects can migrate to carrots, broad beans and other flowering hosts for pest and reproduction, and in mid-to-late June, adult insects move into cotton fields in large numbers and breed two generations, and then move back to orchards to lay eggs and overwinter after mid-August.

With the support of the special project "Research and Demonstration of Sustainable Treatment Technology for Blind Bugs" in the public welfare industry, the research group led by Feng Hongqiang integrated a set of green prevention and control technologies for fruit tree green blind bugs, and carried out demonstration and promotion under the support of the demonstration and promotion project of the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences "Demonstration and Promotion of Comprehensive Management Technology of Blind Bugs in Henan Province".

It is reported that Feng Hongqiang's team mainly carries out the control of green blind bugs from the aspects of eradicating overwintering populations and biological control. The first is winter pruning, which cuts the stumps with overwintering eggs and takes them out of the field to burn them centrally, while spraying a highly efficient and low-toxic 30% dioprex amidine agent to eradicate the overwintering population of green blind bugs in the orchard when the fruit trees germinate. Secondly, from early May to August, three traps were hung per acre to trap male adult green blind bugs using synthetic female sex pheromones (sex attractants). Third, carrots were planted around the orchard to induce green blind bugs to beetles, and in June, the green blind bugs on the carrot flowers were eliminated, and at the same time, the red-necked chamber cocoon bees were released three times in a continuous manner according to the bee worm ratio of 1:50 in the orchard, and the green blind bug population was controlled by parasitic bees.

In The jujube picking garden in Xinzheng, Henan, it is difficult to find jujube trees that have been damaged by green blind bugs, and the person in charge of the picking garden said that they used the technology and prevention measures of Feng Hongqiang's team.

"The use of green blind bug green prevention and control technology can effectively reduce the use, frequency and dosage of fruit in orchards, reduce human and animal poisoning and environmental pollution, and improve the safety and quality of fruits." This is in line with the national industrial development policy, which meets people's needs for green food and environmental protection, and should be vigorously promoted. Lu Chuantao, director of the Institute of Plant Protection of the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said. (Shi Junting)
