The abolition of the custom of burning paper for the deceased elderly is for the benefit of future generations

#给已故老人烧纸的丧葬习俗该不该取消 #

"The original custom of ancestor worship was to mourn the ancestors' dead spirits and pray for the ancestors to bless the family. Traditionally, there is a concept of 'death is like life', and when a person dies, he is to serve him as he was before he dies, so there is a practice of giving money for him to enjoy. At first, it was buried with real money, but because of the tomb robbery, it was replaced by fake money made of pottery or other materials, and finally changed to burned paper money.

This is a tradition that has lasted for a long, long time, but I myself believe that this custom should be abolished.

Some countries have always paid tribute to the deceased by sending flowers or something. Foreign cemeteries look clean, tidy, and green, and the tombstones are full of flowers from family and friends. In our country, when I was a child, I heard some horror stories, walking on the field roads in the countryside, often encountering tombstones, and then I would be very scared. Because it looks terrible, there are some paper money and so on. Sometimes on the highway, encounter a convoy doing funerals, sprinkled on the highway is full of paper money, the wind blows all over the sky, passers-by are afraid of stepping on it when they walk, they will bring something, some also put firecrackers while driving, the sky is filled with the smell of firecrackers and paper money... This kind of scene can be seen everywhere during the Middle Yuan Festival.

I haven't attended a few funerals since I was a child, because adults generally say don't let children participate, which is not good (what is not good, I was too young to understand, I was very afraid). He has participated in it 3 times since. Do white things to eat or have to do, but the last link is to go to the cemetery to burn paper and set off firecrackers, I feel that it can really be omitted, it should be said that it can be changed, into buying flowers (buy fake flowers is plastic, the production of these plastics will produce a lot of bad substances for the environment, and later when it is not discarded, these plastics cannot be degraded for hundreds of years). For the deceased, it is more of a psychological mourning, and they can all feel it. I remember the cemetery I went to at that time, the air was very poor, the smoke was thick, I think it was not fog, it was smog, and it was useless to wear a mask. Then everyone kept burning paper money or something, for half an hour, and put hundreds or 1,000 firecrackers (I don't know why the firecrackers are set off, this is really unnecessary). When I got home, the whole person smelled of paper money from head to toe inside and out, and I wondered how the people who lived near there lived... Even if you think in your heart, the smoke floats up, it is good to disperse, it is gone, in fact, it is just that you feel that it is gone, polluting the entire atmosphere of the earth, a person burns for half an hour, so many people in the cemetery who burn paper money and set off firecrackers, with more and more acts of destruction of the earth, there is no way to guarantee that our children and grandchildren can have a good life environment in the future.

Environmental problems affecting the entire earth's surface layer due to the interaction of human activities with various layers of the earth (atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere), such as global warming caused by the greenhouse effect caused by the large consumption of fossil fuels, will melt the polar ice sheet, lead to sea level rise, so that some river deltas with lower altitudes and fertile land are flooded, and at the same time, seawater irrigation and pollution of groundwater sources will also cause seawater to flood. Also associated with the increase in greenhouse gases is the destruction of the ozone layer.

There is also the problem of industrial pollution. Due to the soil, water quality and air pollution caused by industrial "three wastes" (waste residue, waste water, waste gas), its cumulative effect will also affect the world. In recent decades, acid rain has become a worldwide environmental pollution problem due to the increasing number of exhaust gases discharged into the atmosphere around the world.

The ozone layer is known as the "protective umbrella of mankind", due to the development of industry, people are more and more widely used in nature is relatively stable, not easy to burn, easy to store, the price is relatively cheap chlorofluorocarbons to do refrigerants, sprays, blowing agents and cleaning agents. These substances can persist in the atmosphere for a long time and destroy the ozone layer, thereby endangering human health and affecting biological growth. If the protective umbrella of human beings is broken, it will be gone, the earth will be subjected to strong ultraviolet radiation, species will be difficult to survive, and human health will be greatly threatened.

I've seen a movie before, and there's a clip of a gas leaking out that causes the ozone layer in that area to be destroyed, with serious consequences. Later, it was difficult to rescue the children and adults. Because humans have never encountered this situation, once it happens, they do not know how to deal with it.

I always hear people say that the earth will perish in many years, just have fun, just be happy. This garbage is burned in this way, so that it is convenient, and the leaves are burned off, and the wastewater is discharged into the river. However, if we really do this, won't we feel guilty and uneasy in our hearts, not that others haven't found out, which means that you haven't done it. The earth's resources are not inexhaustible, but few and far between.

The old man should also think that I am very relieved that you come to see me occasionally. You burn so much paper, it doesn't do much to me, but it pollutes the environment and wastes money. Smoke you all the time, and it is easy to cause a fire.

Therefore, this custom should be abolished, and if we change this old thinking, it will really benefit our children and grandchildren!
