The men's qualifiers were held over two days, with the Chinese team in the second group playing well on the first day, and five of the seven events topped the table. However, due to the fact that the Japanese team that played the main force only appeared on the 20th, it added a lot of suspense to the final ranking. Sure enough, Tokyo Olympic champion Daiki Hashimoto played well, so that the Chinese young players felt the strength of the host.
Zhang Boheng single-handedly qualified for the individual all-around, the hanging ring and the parallel bars, becoming the Most Qualified Chinese Player. The 21-year-old Zhang Boheng's score in the individual all-around event was surpassed by Daiki Hashimoto to finish second with a difference of 0.143 points. Zhang Boheng's suspension ring and parallel bars results also ranked second. He finished ninth on horizontal bars and Kurama, only one place left to qualify for the final.

Weng Hao of the Chinese team retained the first place in the Kurama event, and Lan Xingyu also advanced to the ring final with the first place. Hu Xuwei, who had finished at the top of the horizontal bar results the day before, was overtaken by the Olympic champion Ofi Hashimoto to advance to second place. Hu Xuwei also won the parallel bars final.
In the parallel bars competition, the Philippines Carlos Yulo played well, scoring 15.566 points, surpassing three Chinese players in one fell swoop and jumping to the first place. Zhang Boheng, Hu Xuwei and Shi Cong occupy the second to fourth places, and since each team can only have a maximum of two players to advance to the final, Shi Cong can only give up this place. The Chinese team sent six male players to participate in the World Championships, and in the end, only Huang Mingqi, who participated in the vaulting event, failed to qualify for the final. Another event for the Chinese team that failed to qualify for the final was free gymnastics.
Legendary Japanese star Hanghei Uchimura, who won 10 world championship gold medals, only competed in the horizontal bar event, and finally finished fifth with 14.300 points to reach the final. Kitakyushu is the hometown of Uchom Hanghei, who failed to reach the final due to his falling bar in the horizontal bar preliminary round for the Tokyo Olympic Games, and the performance of the day made his hometown father and elder look forward to his final.
The match was once postponed due to a South American player testing positive for the new crown virus, and the organizing committee disinfected the venue before starting.
