Richard Schmid: Portraits and landscape paintings in the "American" style

Richard Schmid (1934-- ) is a distinguished contemporary American painter and art educator, born in 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was influenced by art from an early age, and his maternal grandfather Julian Oates was an architectural sculpture artist. From the age of 12, Schimead began to study and study people, landscapes and anatomy, and later entered the Art Institute of Chicago, mainly studying classical painting techniques, laying a solid foundation in painting and modeling.

In 2000, Richard Schimede was awarded the John Singer Medal, a high honor in the American art world. In 2005, he received the annual Gold Medal from the American PortraitUrethalture Association and received an honorary doctorate from the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. His work blends traditional European painting, Russian painting and modernist painting styles, especially in portraiture and landscape painting, presenting a unique "American" style that became a painter with a wide influence.
