ICN2021 International Nursing Conference is grandly opened

The International Nurses' Association (icn) International Nursing Conference 2021 was grandly opened on November 2, 2021 through a web conference. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Nursing Conference was held online for the first time.

More than 5,500 nurse representatives from 132 countries and regions around the world attended the conference. With the theme of "Safeguarding Global Health", the conference discussed and shared the research results and experiences of nursing workers in member countries or regions in the process of promoting the goal of universal health coverage through speeches, sub-forum discussions and poster exchanges.

At 15:45 on November 2, the opening ceremony of the International Nurses Conference was grandly opened, attended by Ms. Annet Kennedy, President of the International Nurses Association, Mr. Howard Caton, Chief Executive Officer, Directors of the International Nurses Association and Presidents of Nursing Societies from member countries and regions of the world.

Chinese Nursing Association Entrance Ceremony

The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Howard Caton, CEO of the International Nurses Association, and began with the broadcast of the admission video of more than 100 national and regional nursing societies attending the meeting, led by Chairman Wu Xinjuan, and the members of the board of directors dressed in traditional cheongsam waved hello to global nursing colleagues at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.

ICN Council members greeted their global nursing colleagues via video. Wu Ying, Vice President of the Chinese Nursing Association, attended the opening ceremony as a member of the ICN Council.

Ms. Annet Kennedy, President of the International Nurses Association, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, and she first thanked the Uae Nursing Association for its efforts to successfully convene the conference, the national nursing societies for their strong support for the work of the International Nurses Association, and the contributions made by the members of the International Nurses Association Board! She said the tremendous contribution of nurses in the COVID-19 pandemic has made her feel incredibly optimistic about the future of nursing. Chairman Kennedy said: "We advocate that nurses around the world seize the opportunity to make the voice of nurses heard by the community. Nurses International will maximize its leadership role through leadership, collaboration and political influence to make a greater contribution to the global nursing and nurse community."

Representatives from all walks of life sent congratulatory video

The opening ceremony also showcased video messages from representatives from all walks of life, including Jordanian Princess Muna Hussein, TV producer Oprah Winfrey, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, U2 lead singer Bono, K-pop boy band Shine member Key and tennis player Roger Federer, congratulating the 2021 International Nursing Conference and expressing deep gratitude to nurses around the world for their contributions under the COVID-19 pandemic.

The opening ceremony ended with an introduction to traditional culture in the UAE and a song and dance programme. From November 2nd to 4th, representatives from countries and regions around the world will conduct keynote reports and share experiences on important topics such as patient care and nursing practices, leadership and health systems, nursing regulations, nursing human resource management, nursing education and learning, and nursing informatization.
