KENN Interview (1) - Anitama Voice Actor Interview

Before you started working as a voice actor, you debuted as a band singer, when did you become interested in music?

Kenn's exact time is really a bit difficult to answer. Once upon a time, my parents once opened a classroom to help young children sing, and I remember that there was a piano at home, the whole family loved music, and it seemed natural to play Western music all day long. Music has been with me since I was a child, so for me, it was normal to have music together, and I naively thought that other people's homes were like this.

—— It turns out that before you have formed a concept of likes and dislikes about things, you are already a child who has grown up in music.

Kenn yes. Because of this layer, I naturally wanted to know more about music. When I saw Fa Playing the Piano, I also began to learn from the wind; I went to the Wind Music Club to learn trumpet and accordion; and I joined the choir, in short, I maintained contact with music in one way or another when I was in elementary school.

- Did you join the choir on your own initiative?

Kenn should be counted as right. In my elementary school, the school has put considerable effort into the chorus, and the number of choirs is also very large. Having said that, there are only 3 boys in the relatively large number of female students, including me, so they will play in all competitions.

──Besides music, what other hobbies did you have when you were a kid?

Kenn because I was active since I was a child, swimming and playing football. But since I became obsessed with bands when I was in junior high school, I have completely left sports behind. In high school, I joined the Light Music Department, and I did not exercise outside of school physical education classes and festivals.

I heard that your tutor was strict and almost didn't let you watch animation when you were a child.

Kenn actually watches all kinds of national animation for all ages, and he doesn't know anything about animation, but he still watches less than his peers. The game is the same, the home is not completely banned, just not allowed to play for a long time.

I heard that you have been interested in voice actors since junior high school, how did you get information related to voice actors in the few animation works you came into contact with?

Kenn, if I remember correctly, it was exactly then that home games began to popularize dubbing. Prior to this, most of the vocal dubbing in the game was only a few words, and there was no large section of dialogue. When I was in junior high school, I played the kind of games with voiceovers, and I felt like a voice actor was great.

It turns out that you are not related to voice actors because of animation, but because of games.

Kenn yes. It is true that I have heard many of my peers say that "I first became aware of voice actors because I watched the subtitles at the end of the anime", but I personally did not take this as an opportunity but because of the game. I was more afraid of life, so I thought it was interesting to have to show my acting skills without having to show my face alone, and I once envisioned a voice actor career, but only because my initial fascination with music was better, I did not work in the direction of voice actors. It was also for this reason that when I had the opportunity to co-perform with the predecessors who were the voice actors of the games I was addicted to as children, I was secretly excited.

──Did you decide to go into music when you were in high school?

Although kenn was still a relatively vague ideal at that time, it was indeed an idea established at that time to identify the path of music in the future.

Did you dream of becoming a guitarist?

Kenn yes. I remember when I was in junior high school, I went to the home of my predecessors to play, and I saw that there was an electric guitar in his room, and the seniors held the guitar and played it slowly, and when I saw this scene, I couldn't help but think: "Handsome, I also want to play guitar." Just like when I saw my friends playing the piano before, as long as I saw someone playing an instrument in person, I would also try it.

How did you react when you told your parents about the idea that you wanted to work in music in the future?

Kenn at first, they tried to discourage this idea, but in the end they encouraged me to say, "Do what you want to do," and that's where I am today. They were well aware of my love of instruments and singing, so when I proposed to go to music college, I didn't stop me. At that time, I was full of unfounded self-confidence, but my parents were always tolerant of my wayward son, so I could only be grateful to them.

-------------------------------------------------

The kenn band audition was a matchmaking for the principal after I graduated from junior college. In fact, at that time, compared with the past, the habit of no one in my eyes has changed a lot. The reason why I actively participated in the audition was not because of the blind confidence of the past, but because I felt that if I had such an opportunity, I should do my best to give it a fight.

──After you debuted as the lead singer of the band, keyboardist, did you plan your future goals?

When kenn talks about goals, it's easy to think of things like opening live at Nippon Budokan in the future, but in fact, I didn't think that way in the first place. The original motivation for choosing music as a profession is because I have received the grace of music several times in my life so far, so I don't want to have such and such a big deed, but I just want to repay the kindness of music with my own meager efforts, and hope that my musical works can become a little help for others to actively face life.

——It can be seen that your view of things at that time was really calm and mature.

Kenn also thought that it was "untargeted", so I thought at the time that I hoped that there would be new discoveries in the process of practice in the future.
