This is a bitter cold family, the old man is old, and the son can't do physical work after major surgery. Through targeted poverty alleviation, the family finally got rid of poverty. However, in the face of the good news that her granddaughter He Suting "scored 656 points in the college entrance examination and was admitted to Huazhong University of Science and Technology", the old man was anxious about a large amount of tuition fees and living expenses during study.
In fact, the old man did not know that on the evening of July 12, after receiving He Suting's annunciation text message, Yu Shanwei replied without hesitation: "Rest assured to study, the tuition is ready." ”
He Suting is just one of dozens of poor college students that Yu Shanwei has sponsored in recent years.
Yu Shanwei, who is also a son of a peasant family, came from a poor background. His father died prematurely due to illness, and the family was often helped by neighbors, relatives and friends. Faced with the predicament, 18-year-old Yu Shanwei gave up his studies, went out to work, and broke out of the world with hard-working and honesty and trustworthiness.
Thinking of the source of drinking water, Yu Shanwei did not forget the help of his father and elders in his hometown to him and his family, and he did his best to dedicate love to the society with a successful career.
"The success of a personal career, if it cannot benefit the people of one party, can only get a short-lived surprise." Helping others as much as you can can make people gain infinite happiness and strength in life. Over the years, he took this as his creed and fulfilled the promise of great love.
In November 2010, after learning that there were four half-dead elderly people in the county's East Street community who had a difficult daily life, Yu Shanwei immediately bought four wheelchairs, along with daily necessities and commonly used drugs, and delivered them to the elderly. Over the years, he has become the "son" in the hearts of nearly a hundred lonely and elderly people.
In 2012, there was a shortage of funds for the construction of a nursing home in Yuji Town, his hometown, and Yu Shanwei not only donated 100,000 yuan in one lump sum, but also funded 2,000 yuan per month since that year to improve the lives of the elderly admitted to the hospital.
In February 2016, Yu Shanwei happened to see a 9-year-old Zhang Hui living in a plastic shed with her disabled father in a remote village. He immediately put down all his work, from the site selection, design, construction, and decoration of the new house, he personally did it, and built a brand-new farm courtyard for the father and daughter in a month and a half. So far, Yu Shanwei has built a "happy house" for more than 10 poor families.
Shangcheng County was originally a national-level poverty-stricken county. In the fight against poverty, Yu Shanwei took the lead in taking out 600,000 yuan to send daily necessities and condolence money to 691 poor households in more than 20 poor villages one by one. In March 2018, he took out another 600,000 yuan to build love supermarkets for 17 deeply impoverished villages in the county.
In May 2019, the Shangcheng County Volunteer Service Federation was established. As the initiator, Yu Shanwei became the founding president of the Society. The first thing he did when he took office was to launch the "Five Hundred" volunteer service project of "comforting 100 poor old party members, 100 poor laid-off workers, 100 widows and elderly people, 100 left-behind children, and cleaning 100 back streets and alleys every year".
The power of example is infinite. Under his leadership, shangcheng county has nearly 70,000 registered volunteers, established 166 volunteer service stations (points) of various types, established 531 volunteer service teams, carried out more than 20,000 volunteer service activities, and served more than 400,000 people. Striving to be a volunteer and wearing a "red vest" has become the "new fashion" of Shangcheng County.
In order to let the county sanitation workers eat hot meals in the morning, through his multi-party coordination, in May last year, the shangcheng county "Great Love Qiankun" sanitation workers free breakfast point was unveiled in the downtown area, and soon received funding from all parties, in just one year, 16,900 free breakfasts were provided.
Along the way, Yu Shanwei was most worried about those poor students. In 2012, he donated 50,000 yuan to help 10 poor students realize their college dreams. In 2013, he joined hands with the County Women's Federation to launch a 10-year "Care for Girls, Let Go of Dreams" activity, donating 150,000 yuan per year to support poor girls to go to school.
In March 2015, he initiated the launch of the "Huaru Dream - Caring for Orphans and Poor Children" volunteer service project, and screened 60 orphans and poor children in the county, each of whom was funded with 400 yuan per month for living expenses until the age of 18. Since then, he has become the "Yu Dad" in the mouths of these 60 children.
In order to fund poor college students and inspire outstanding students and teachers in his hometown, Yu Shanwei also set up the "Elite Inspirational Award" with 5 million yuan.
