On October 1 and 2, three people drowned while on vacation in the Boao Sea area of Hainan Province. One of them was killed for seeing the courage of the righteous.

Some family members of the deceased believe that the complex water conditions in the Boao Sea area are the main reason for the frequent occurrence of drowning accidents. Because even the locals in Boao do not dare to walk in deep water above their knees. At the same time, the occurrence of the accident is also related to the lack of protective measures and relevant reminders by the local government and hotels on the beach.
On the afternoon of October 6, Boao town government staff told Jimu News that the coastline under its jurisdiction has arranged a joint defense team to patrol in sections to ensure that drowning incidents do not occur again.
Two broken families
Yang Longquan (pseudonym), a 34-year-old executive of a public company, is full of spirits.
On October 2, Yang Longquan and his wife flew from Shanghai to Hainan with their 5-year-old eldest son to start his beach trip.
At about 18:18 that day, Yang Longquan put on his swimsuit, put on his swimming goggles, and swam in the sea near the hotel. He had taken a diving license and had been diving in the Philippines, but he didn't expect the waves to be so big and so urgent that day.
At that time, the wife stayed on the shore and took her son to play with the sand.
At about 18:38, the wife noticed an abnormality, the waves were getting bigger and bigger, and several people who were swimming in the sea were desperately swimming toward the shore. However, several big waves came over, and suddenly she couldn't see her husband Yang Longquan, and her wife immediately called the hotel for help. However, the hotel said that there were no rescue measures and needed to be arranged after asking the superiors for instructions. Yang Longquan's wife was anxious and blindfolded.
After a while, an uncle swam ashore exhausted and immediately dialed 110 and 119 to call the police for help.
The uncle's 26-year-old son, Zhang Zichen, in order to pull Yang Longquan, unfortunately was swept away by the waves with him.
An hour later, Zhang Zichen and Yang Longquan were swept onto the beach by the waves, and both of them had lost their breath.

Yang Longquan's sister Yang Li (pseudonym) told Jimu News that the water area where the accident occurred is the area where the three rivers (Wanquan River, Longquan River, Jiuqu River) meet in the eyes of locals, not only the waves will be very large, but there are also more undercurrents and whirlpools, and the underwater situation is very complicated. The experience of the locals is that the water will not go into the sea again until it reaches the knee.

Ms. Wang, a staff member of the Boao town government, also confirmed to the Jimu News reporter that when the rescuers arrived at the scene that night, they found that the situation was very bad. Because the offshore flow of seawater is too fierce, the seawater rises particularly fast. "Firefighters go in to search and rescue with safety ropes." Ms. Wang said that at that time, even if the motorboat drove past, it had to be overturned by the waves.
Eventually, after more than an hour of hard work, rescuers found the bodies of two men on the shore not far away.
"Such dangerous waters, why is there no reminder?"
Yang Li said that in Sanya, many waters near hotels will be equipped with buoys to warn of playing in the relevant safety areas, and there are also security officers to blow whistles. However, in the waters where the incident occurred, no signs such as warning lines, fences and buoys were seen. If this area is not suitable for swimming and cannot be set up in safe waters, the hotel should also set up warning signs on the spot to remind guests not to swim in the sea. Yang Li felt that the Qionghai Boao Daoji Seaview Hotel was also blind to handling this matter and did not fulfill its due responsibilities.
Yang Li told the Jimu News reporter that after the incident, from the hotel to the coast of the intersection, there is more than one warm notice board of "the water conditions in the sea are complicated, please do not go to the sea to swim in the water". However, the operation director of Boao Daoji Seaview Hotel said in an interview with local media that the beach is hundreds of meters away from the hotel, which belongs to the public beach, and there are notice boards inside and outside the hotel, and there are also government notices on the beach to remind guests not to swim in the sea.

In addition to the drowning incident that killed the two people on the 2nd, on the 1st, another tourist drowned in the same water due to swimming. That is, a total of three people drowned in the waters in two days.

In the afternoon of the same day, in an interview with Jimu News reporter, Ms. Wang, a staff member of Boao Town, introduced that after the accident, the local joint public security, emergency fire protection, cultural tourism and other departments jointly convened the responsible persons of hotels, residential properties, town and village cadres in the region at 9:30 a.m. on the 3rd to hold a meeting, asking all departments to strengthen the prevention of related incidents.
At the same time, from 7 o'clock in the morning of the 3rd, the joint defense team organized by the town began to patrol. The team, consisting of 16 villagers, police officers at the police station and lifeguards, conducted uninterrupted patrols of the waters in sections. The time lasts from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Boao Town also requires hotels and communities in the water to conduct safety education for staying passengers and owners; and set safety reminders in prominent locations to prohibit swimming in the sea.
Between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the 6th, jimu news reporters tried to dial the rescue phone number on the seaside warm reminder board, but no one answered many times, and no one called back after more than 20 minutes.
On October 5, Zhang Zichen's body had been cremated, and Yang Longquan's ashes had returned to his hometown.
