Edit: Snowflake Fat Cow
Some time ago, when I thought that my stupid cat would definitely die, my liver trembled.
I'm in the play, if that day really comes, how do I do things for my cat? I searched the Internet and found that the pet funeral service had been available more than a decade ago.
Among these practitioners, some people gave up high salaries to become pet morticians, earning 100,000 yuan a month; some people invested millions to open high-end pet funeral shops.
In 2005, someone started a pet funeral business
They arranged for the Mao children in every way, so that the barbaric growth of this line showed full temptation.
In addition, in recent years, from raising cats and dogs to raising fish, turtles, birds, hamsters, spiders, snakes... Pet size is growing at an extremely fast rate.
Is pet funeral really a blue ocean? Is it a profiteering industry in the partial door? Is the money in this line really that easy to earn?
My focus also shifted from preparing for my silly cat to focusing on the pet funeral economy. To that end, I decided to actually investigate.
The door to pet funeral, in the end can not go through?
With this question in mind, I contacted a pet funeral shop owner who had been in the industry for 11 years, Wang Chao.
In Wang Chao's view, this business seems to be promising, but in fact, it is dangerous step by step.
The reasons for this, on the one hand, are limited by the law. Pet crematoriums are subject to various environmental impact assessments and fire certificates, while pet cemeteries do not have specific legislation to plan land, both of which are in gray areas. If you don't pay attention, you will be "clicked" by someone.
There is also a pet crematorium, which can be converted into a mobile cremation vehicle, and the price ranges from 20,000 to 50,000.
There is a famous saying in the legal circles: the law can be done without prohibition, and the law is prohibited without authorization. Many people have only seen the first half of the sentence, so it is necessary for yokozuna to give a serious explanation to the old iron here: doing business must abide by the law.
In addition, the more important aspect comes from the discussion of ethical values.
Wang Chao pointed out to the point that pet parents face huge social pressure and ethical problems. In a Chinese society that regards ancestor worship as the ultimate belief in life, giving pets an aftermath is itself an extremely rebellious act.
In the subconscious of many people, comparing pets to ancestors is intolerable.
Subject to the pressure of these two aspects, the pet funeral business is still a taboo topic in a short period of time, and it has not appeared in the public eye with a large-scale trend, otherwise it will set off a big storm.
Brin-Well Pet Cemetery, USA
Compared with the high-profile crematorium and cemetery, pet coffins are more easily accepted. It's simple, discreet, fast, and without a sense of ceremony.
A shoe box size, a 19.9 free shipping paulownia coffin box, is always more comfortable than a shoe box.
It can avoid the moisture of the mud, wet the cute hair of the hairy child, and seek a peace of mind for the parents and make up for a guilt. In the wilderness not far from home, dig a pit, bury some soil, and the years of fate between parents and hairy children end.
Wang Chao said that many parents have experienced the Buddhist classic of "dependent arising voidness" after their pets are gone. All things in the world are formed by the convergence of fate, and when the fate gathers, it is born, and when the fate is separated, it is destroyed. When the hair child is gone, the world that the parents and the hair child have formed together will collapse.
Japanese pet funeral ceremony
They will probably say something like this in the circle of friends: "I am your pet, you are my whole world." Now I'm going to Wang Xing/Cat Star, and you have to take care of yourself. ”
Parents who come to consume, do not talk about the price, because talking about money is too vulgar, which will make the relationship less sacred. Therefore, in Wang Chao's view, if you want to do a good job in this industry, you must first understand that its core is not the commodity itself or the price, but the empathy ability shown by the merchant.
There is also Qi Delong from a pet coffin factory in Heze Cao County who has the same view.
After the 80s, Qi Delong returned to his hometown after "retiring" from a large factory to start a business, and now runs a wood art factory. His business focuses on the Already highly mature pet coffin market in the United States and Australia.
Why did you choose to make a pet coffin?
Qi Delong said that in fact, in Cao County, it is not unusual to make pet coffins.
"In our Zhuangzhai town alone, there are nearly 3,000 wood companies, more than 5,000 households, and there is an Amazon cross-border e-commerce operation center in the county." Here, the new product will soon be followed by someone, and I will follow suit. ”
Pet coffins are products that do not have any barriers, but the focus of each family is different. The main thing to do is to look at the needs of different markets.
Zedron mainly does the markets of the United States and Australia, which are not high in terms of market requirements and are relatively simple. Of course, that doesn't mean they're confused.
"The first product we made was to glue together paulownia wood boards, brush a layer of varnish, the factory price is less than 20 yuan, and amazon merchants in the United States can sell for 19.9 to 25 US dollars."
Made of bamboo and wood
This price belongs to the cheapest in the US market, so sales are not bad.
But the problem is that the competition is too fierce, the profit is low, and the user feedback is not good, and the general complaint is that it is too cheap and the workmanship is not good. Iron men think, even americans complain about work, what does this have to be?
Later, Zedron did some serious market research. He found that in the United States, pets are generally buried in the corner of the yard of their own big house after cremation, or buried directly without cremation, so they pay special attention to moisture-proof sealing and workmanship.
In addition, there are a small number of pets buried in the pet cemetery, paying a fee of 1,000 to 2,000 US dollars a year.
This very expensive North American walnut coffin, with its american character, is at the top of the "chain of contempt".
Then, Zedron began to carry out a series of modifications and upgrades to the product, for example, according to the color of walnut, brush dark paint, so that it looks thicker, and then upgrade the process to increase sealing.
Add a small photo frame to the surface of the coffin, which is used to put pet photos, metal nameplates, etc., and then put a flannel bag inside, and some are also covered with fake silk fabrics, so that it is warmer.
Upgraded pet coffin
"You've got to make Americans feel the temperature, I'm not a pure businessman who makes your money, and I want pets to be comfortable inside." After doing this, the factory price is much higher, the seller is about 35 US dollars on the shelves, the sales volume is less, but the profit is considerable, and the buyer's evaluation is good, suitable for long-term development. ”
Zidron learned from American customers that pet coffins of the same quality, sold in crematoriums, cost 100 to 200 US dollars.
"At present, the annual sales have grown to 500,000, and we are very optimistic about this market."
Next, Zedron is ready to make different types of products with wicker, biodegradable materials, and even some necklaces. There is also a personalization aspect, in addition to simply making photo frames and metal nameplates, there will be some other attempts.
"For example, the tombstones in Hui'an, Fujian Province, are quite famous and sold all over the world, and we will go to see if there is an opportunity to cooperate."
While other markets have not done so, Zedron has also done some research. In his view, the pet funeral supplies of each country are rooted in the cultural spirit and beliefs of this nation or country.
For example, Zidron doesn't make Japanese pet coffins because there's too much emphasis there. The Japanese love pets to the bone, they have special pet temples, senior monks chant excessively, and even buddhist masters have debated whether this is in line with Buddhist teachings.
Therefore, in the Japanese market, Zidron is mainly a human coffin, and 90% of the Japanese who have died are sent away with Cao County coffins.
Compared with Japan, the Western European and Russian markets are more artistic, and a large number of products from these two markets can be seen in the annual funeral supplies exhibition.
For example, Italy, worthy of the origin of the Renaissance, pet urns have pure hand-painted patterns, music box styles, as well as flowers, helmets, apples, pyramids and other styles, more artistic than art.
Pet urns produced by hand by Italian companies
"I also saw the pet urn made by the Batie brothers, and I was impressed, it was made of Himalayan salt, sand, brass, agate, marble, especially Central Asian style."
Pakistan handmade pet urns
Many friends are very interested in the domestic market, and Zedron admits that the potential market in China is now very large, with more than 100 million pet cats and dogs. However, the problem now is that there is no correct guidance and no market norms have been formed.
There are several very real problems, such as in China, where pets are cremated and where they are buried.
"So, it's not time to talk about the prospects specifically, but to look at the superstructure and the change of thinking." I think in China, pet coffins will develop into small urns that don't take up space. ”
Pet urns
Zidron said that the development trend of pet coffins is no longer like an urn, but like a home decoration craft, about the size of a bottle of facial cleanser, a jar of snowflake cream, or a necklace pendant, metal nameplate, porcelain and the like.
Such a form may be more in line with our current social needs, and in this regard, Zedron has begun to slowly explore.
After understanding so much, I found that the pet funeral business, which seems to be serving pets, is actually still a business for serving people.
"I have been fucked by the life of a fucked egg × countless times, and I must not let my cats and dogs be wronged again."
My cat owner
The relationship between pets and people in the new era is not a master-servant relationship, but has evolved into a partnership of completion and perfection. This makes the owner's mentality wander between the "old mother" and the "inaction rule".
Owners hope that pets can live happily according to nature, so they put their yearning for a better life and the exploration of the meaning of life on their pets.
Whether it is a pet funeral, or pet medical treatment, food, or utensils, on the surface, it seems that people are serving pets, but in essence
