Wang Yongfeng, deputy director of the Mountaineering Management Center of the State General Administration of Sport, vice chairman of the China Mountaineering Association and captain of the Chinese mountaineering team, said in his speech that ski mountaineering is a sport that combines mountaineering and cross-country skiing skills, and is an emerging sport in China. In 2016, ski mountaineering was first introduced to the Tibetan Mountaineering Congress. In recent years, based on its own characteristics, the Tibet Autonomous Region has made a breakthrough in the competition in this project. At present, the China Mountaineering Association and the Sports Bureau of the Tibet Autonomous Region have jointly established a national ski mountaineering training team, and Tibetan ski mountaineer Solang Quzhen has won the fourth place in the women's cross-country and sprint competitions at the 2020 Lausanne Youth Winter Olympics, creating the best result of Chinese athletes in the international comprehensive games of the project. Skiing and mountaineering has become an official event of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Dampezzo Winter Olympics, and it is hoped that Tibetan athletes will actively prepare for the competition and win glory for the motherland in the international arena.
