Herpes simplex is a common skin disease caused by viruses. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is called "fire sores", "hot sores" and so on. Herpes simplex usually occurs when there is an acute fever or other causes that cause a decrease in the body's functional resistance.

The disease is caused by infection with herpes simplex virus, which enters the body through the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, mouth, genitals, or skin breakage. Easily lurking in the blood, normal mucous membranes, saliva, and possibly in multiple organs or nerve tissues, most of these viral infections have no obvious clinical manifestations. When human body function is reduced due to lesion infection, fever disease, or due to pregnancy, excessive fatigue and other reasons, the virus in the body will be infected and cause the onset of the disease.
Patients initially have a burning itch, then a red patch that quickly turns into a small, dense blister the size of a corn grain or mung bean. The fluid of the blisters is transparent or cloudy, and the blisters break down into a red erosion. If there is no infection, it will dry out the scabs, leaving temporary pigmentation or superficial blister marks after healing, which can cause nearby lymphadenopathy. Herpes simplex tends to occur at the junction of the skin and mucous membranes, especially at the corners of the mouth, the edge of the lips, around the nostrils, and also occurs in the oral mucosa, tonsils, buttocks or genitals. Men suffering from genital herpes are prone to prostatitis and inflammation of the bladder and urethra. Female onset of cervix or genitals can cause pain in the lower abdomen, increased discharge, and local necrosis and ulceration of herpes. Herpes simplex is easy to occur in adults, and the course of the disease is generally self-healing in about 7 to 15 days, and the disease is prone to recurrence.
