Bizarre Hawaiian man fishing instead of being stabbed to death by a fish

On May 29, a bizarre death occurred off the coast of Hawaii. A man driving a boat to catch a swordfish in the water with a spear in his hand, but the ferocious sailfish instead stabbed the man with his own hard mouth kiss. The man was eventually killed.

The news was confirmed by Hawaii's Department of Land and Resources (DLNR), where local police identified the man as Randy Llanes, a Kailua-Kona resident, 47.

The DLNR said the slain fishermen were in the harbor waters when they saw a sailfish swimming in the sea. He jumped into the water and stabbed the fish with a spear. But the sailfish pierced the top of Lance's chest with its long mouth kiss. DLNR said Lance was unconscious when he was pulled out of the water. He was taken to Kona Community Hospital, but eventually died.

Local police and other law enforcement agencies are investigating the case. When DLNR staff went to the sea to catch the offending sailfish, they found that the fish was dead.

The DLNR said in the statement that the sailfish is about 1 meter long, and its fish snout is also 1 meter long and weighs about 18 kilograms.

John Whitman, director of the Hawaii County Fire Department, said this is not the first case of a sailfish injury. "It's a very aggressive animal, and when you offend them, they actively resist."

Sailfish, also known as marlins, are a general term for a variety of large predatory fish in the sea. It is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. The fish is generally 200 to 300 cm long, up to 348 cm long, and weighs about 90 kg (200 lbs) or more. The sailfish are cylindrical in shape, slightly flattened on the sides, and blunt and rounded on the dorsal and ventral margins, which are relatively straight. The tip of the snout is long and gun-shaped.

Sailfish feed on other fish and are a popular food and sporting species. The sailfish are fierce, swim quickly, can reach speeds of up to 110 miles per hour when attacking targets, and can dive into 800 meters of water.
