It's official: Lee Kasley becomes england U21's new manager, with Ashley Cole as assistant coach

Live Bar July 28 , the England national team officially announced that Irishman Lee Casley has become the new U21 head coach of the Three Lions, and Ashley Cole will serve as assistant coach.

Lee Casley played for Everton and Derby County during his career and made 40 appearances for the Irish national team. In recent years, Casley has served as an assistant coach for England U21, where he worked in the U19 echelon in 2015. He also has extensive coaching experience at Manchester City and Birmingham.

Lee Kasli said: "I think coaching U21 is a great honour and achievement, it is a prestigious position that also requires a lot of responsibility, which has been proven by the talents of the predecessors who have held this position. We have a great opportunity to help the adult national team, to develop the best young talents in this country, while combining the goals of success in the U21 echelon. ”

"We want to win games, I don't think we can't have both, these lads want to play at the highest level and test themselves as much as possible. We have to acknowledge the work done by the academy system and I know how important it is to have a good relationship with the club. ”

"I'm going to have a great team around me, Ashley Cole is a fantastic addition and we're going to have Tim Dieter as goalkeeper coach and he has a lot of experience in the game. During the lockdown period, I took classes with Ashley and was impressed. He's committed to the development of coaches and players, so our ideas are aligned. ”

Cole said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to assist Lee and work with the best young people in this country. I love playing for the national team and it feels special to now have the opportunity to coach England. St. George's Park is such a great place that I can't wait to get to work. I want to do my best to help young players develop, while also learning from some talented players. ”

Casley's first game in charge will be between Bucharest and the U21 national team on 3 September, against the Romanian U21 national team. On 7 September, they will return to England to host Kosovo in the Under-21 European Championship qualifiers.
