On April 30, young director Zhou Quan's latest work "Summer of Xixiaohe" was screened at the China Film Archive in Beijing, which won the Audience Award in the New Wave Competition Section of the Busan Film Festival.
The film tells the story of a teacher in an old Taimen in Shaoxing, the father Gu Jianhua is the director of teaching in a primary school, the mother Yang Huifang is an actor in the Yue opera troupe, and the son Gu Xiaoyang is the only son of the family and is an avid football fan. The grandfather next door is at home alone, and is also an avid football fan, in order to train Xiaoyang to be selected to the football team, secretly take Xiaoyang to train and go to the bar to watch the World Cup. However, Xiaoyang's father strictly disciplined Xiaoyang and only let him obediently study. Since Xiaoyang's class teacher wants to help Tibet, the study sent a young and beautiful teacher Shen, Gu Jianhua and Teacher Shen wishful thinking, Xiaoyang believes that his father and Teacher Shen secretly sued their mother. At the end of the film, Grandpa left Shaoxing, and Xiaoyang cried because of Grandpa's departure. Dad lost the position of vice principal, and Mr. Shen went to a new school after his internship.

Q: Why didn't I return to Hollywood after graduation to shoot this story?
A: The original intention is a sense of loneliness as an only child, and from this loneliness will project a time and space. Then because I grew up in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, grew up in the 90s, I projected this space into the place and time of the film.
Q: Is there anything special about this mirror language?
A: Most of us don't pay special attention to how we look in the mirror, and I would like the characters in the film to give themselves a chance to face themselves when they face life and face others. Before the mother performed, looking in the mirror and the father looking in the mirror we deliberately arranged in this way, a manifestation of the inner tension of the husband and wife relationship. All mirror lenses are well thought out.
