The earlier ones, of course, were Yan Fengying, and later included Ma Lan, Wu Qiong, and Han Zaifen. If it is said that she is known as the "Queen of Huangmei Opera", it may only be Wu Qiong.
I believe that many people have such a feeling, Wu Qiong, who has a pair of large dimples, of course, sang a lot of huangmei opera classic songs that year, but at the same time she also sang a lot of songs similar to opera songs. Indeed, Wu Qiong has systematically studied the performance of ethnic vocal music, truly stepped into the pop music scene, and held many personal concerts.

Wu Qiong, a native of Wuhu, Anhui Province, was born in 1962 and entered the Huangmei class of the Anhui Provincial Art School at the age of 13 to learn to sing Huangmei opera. After graduating from art school, he entered the Huangmei Drama Theater in Anhui Province.
Huangmei opera was originally a small drama, which cannot be compared with the influence of Peking Opera and other big dramas, and the earliest did not originate in Anhui, but in the neighboring Hubei Huangmei. Later, due to the great influence of anhui artists such as Yan Fengying and other artists, such as "Tianxian Matching", Huangmei opera quickly became one of the major dramas in the country.
When Wu Qiong entered the industry, it was also a period when Huangmei opera had a great influence in the country. After entering the provincial theater, Wu Qiong overheard an old recording of Yan Fengying, fell deeply in love with this singing method, and began to deliberately imitate Yan Fengying's singing voice, and gradually formed his own style.
Subsequently, the young Wu Qiong began to win awards in the Huangmei Opera Competition in the province, including the whole country, and her reputation rose. Since 1989, Wu Qiong has participated in the CCTV Spring Festival Gala for many consecutive years, singing Huangmei opera sections such as "Eighteen Sending Each Other", and has also begun to be recognized by the national audience.

However, with the expansion of popularity and the broadening of her horizons, Wu Qiong gradually realized the limitations of opera and began to deliberately explore how to sing songs, or combine the two.
In 1991, a turning point in Wu Qiong's career, she went to the China Conservatory of Music for further study, followed vocal music professor Jin Tielin to learn ethnic music systematically, and was determined to create a new career in addition to opera. It was in the second year that Wu Qiong left the Huangmei opera stage that had been with her for many years and began to fight in the ascendant song world.
Her working relationship also changed from the Huangmei Drama Theater in Anhui Province to the China Radio Art Troupe, from singing Huangmei opera to singing Huangmei opera, which can also be regarded as stepping into the pop music scene.
In the years that followed, the audience saw Wu Qiong no longer just singing opera, but also singing songs on the stage, many times it was a drama song with opera charm. Not only did she publish a music album, Wu Qiong also starred in a costume TV series about opera, and began to develop into a multi-habitat.

For Wu Qiong, this should mean exploration and freedom, but for the old fans who like her, it is still a bit of a pity.
Until 2003, Wu Qiong returned to the Huangmei Opera stage after a 10-year absence, and performed the whole Huangmei opera "Tianxian Match" and "Female Horse" in Hefei. For many theater fans, this is a long-lost opera enjoyment. At this time, Wu Qiong was already middle-aged and over 40 years old.
In the following years, Wu Qiong still wandered between opera and song, and in 2008, she also held the earliest solo concert in the history of Huangmei opera in Hefei, Beijing, Shanghai and other places, singing classic Huangmei opera singing sections such as "Flowers", "Husband and Wife Both Bring Home", "Who Expects the Emperor to Be in the Middle" and other classic Huangmei opera singing sections on the stage, and also singing songs such as "Soul Breaking Blue Bridge", "Yingshan Hong", "Picking Pomegranates" and so on.
For Wu Qiong, this is also the result of her years of artistic exploration.

In the past few years, Wu Qiong has also starred in the original Huangmei musical "Noble Lady Returns Home" and "Too White Drunk", and also starred in the musical light comedy "Oh, Mom". Until this year's spring evening, Wu Qiong also participated in the performance.
Finally, two words about Wu Qiong's family. Wu Qiong's husband is called Ruan Tour, who was the host of the Beijing Television children's program "Seven Colors of Light" when he was a teenager, and later became a film and television actor, acting in "Prime Minister Liu Luoguo", and also played the male lead in Wu Qiong's MV "Soul Breaking Blue Bridge".
