On June 18, with the official listing of JD Group on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, JD.com (Indonesia), a subsidiary of the Group, ushered in the first "618 Shopping Festival" with local characteristics in the first place of the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road". The happy events in the field of cross-border e-commerce not only reflect the vitality and cohesion of the construction of the "Digital Silk Road", but also provide an exciting "opening" to the "China-ASEAN Digital Economy Cooperation Year" launched on June 12.

At present, the fourth industrial revolution marked by artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things is in the ascendant, and the rapidly developing digital economy is profoundly reshaping the world economy and human society. Especially in the face of the sudden impact of the global pandemic of the new crown epidemic, the importance of the digital economy to restore the economic and social development of all countries, create more employment opportunities and improve people's well-being has been further highlighted. In this context, China and ASEAN resolutely launched the Year of Digital Economy Cooperation with the theme of "Pooling Wisdom and Cohesion to Fight the Epidemic, Mutual Benefit and Win-win Development", with the goal of seizing a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation opportunities, giving full play to complementary advantages, focusing on win-win cooperation, and actively exploring to cultivate more new cooperation growth points in smart cities, artificial intelligence, big data and other industrial fields, which will surely create a more powerful new momentum for the economic and social development of both sides.

There is a basis for such a judgment. On the one hand, China has rich experience in developing the digital economy, strong momentum and bright prospects. China has always attached great importance to the development of the digital economy, which accounts for more than 1/3 of the gdp and is expected to continue to increase in the future. China is vigorously carrying out new infrastructure, which will set a broad stage for better high-quality development in the fourth industrial revolution, not only empowering economic and social development, but also improving the quality of people's lives. Especially in terms of epidemic prevention and control, resumption of work and production, and ensuring people's lives, from digital infrastructure to ensure the timely supply of medical supplies to digital technology to make diagnosis faster and more accurate, and digital application to ensure people's living needs is more convenient and efficient. More importantly, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China and its partners will share their experience in digital epidemic prevention and control, digital infrastructure construction and digital transformation in the future, continue to improve communication mechanisms, enrich exchange platforms, tap cooperation potential, and share the dividends of digital economy development.

On the other hand, ASEAN has a vast market, strong desire and great potential for developing the digital economy to achieve leapfrog development. According to the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN's digital economy is expected to increase from 1.3% of GDP in 2015 to 8.5% by 2025. Taking Indonesia, the largest ASEAN economy, as an example, the Ministry of Marine Fisheries held a web conference the day after the opening ceremony of the year of cooperation to study how to use digital technologies to enhance fry production capacity, enhance fishermen's skills, and enhance fishery competitiveness, especially the ability to export to China; the country's palm oil production and export leading enterprises have actively explored the digitalization of traditional industries, effectively alleviating the negative impact of the epidemic by first trying out Internet of Things technology based on China's experience. It can be seen that Chinese enterprises, Chinese technology, Chinese experience, and the Chinese market have always played an important role in the rapid development of Indonesia's digital economy. Therefore, ASEAN Secretary-General Lin Yuhui said, "China is at the forefront of developing digital infrastructure and other aspects, and is a precious partner of ASEAN in promoting the development of the digital economy in the region.".

Today's world is experiencing major changes unprecedented in a century, the world economy is nurturing new opportunities, and digital economic cooperation is also ushering in a period of strategic opportunities. It is understood that in the next step, China and ASEAN will further deepen cooperation in the digital economy in an all-round way, including sharing digital anti-epidemic policies, measures, practices and solutions, strengthening cooperation in various fields such as 5G, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and industrial Internet, supporting entrepreneurship and innovation and industrial digital transformation, promoting the development of smart cities, deepening cyberspace governance, and promoting pragmatic cooperation in network security.

We have reason to believe that China and ASEAN, which are working hand in hand on the new journey of developing the digital economy, will be able to inject new vitality into the region and the world to defeat the epidemic as soon as possible and achieve lasting stability and prosperity.
