On October 27, Sun Xin was in the game.
Running, pedaling, jumping, taking off... A series of moves flow smoothly, but this is not our usual long jump game. On the paralympic special olympics long jump venue on the southeast side of the Xi'an Olympic Sports Center Stadium, athletes are completing the long jump they have been training for many years. Among them are blind athletes who are completely out of the front runner to jump alone, and there are also athletes with intellectual disabilities who rely on long periods of training to maintain muscle memory and jump confidently...
It was a victory for both of them
The failure of the first two jump attempts made blind athlete Chen Shichang look a little nervous. In the third jump, the coach helped Chen Shichang to his running aid point and helped him set the right direction, and the 35-meter step point was the starting point he was most familiar with. Chen Shichang, wearing an eye mask, raised his arms, and the sand pit that had been smoothed out in the distance was the direction in which he was running.
Guide Yang Linfeng came to the jump point and shouted at Chen Shichang: "The position is correct, start!" Yang Linfeng began to clap his hands to beat Chen Shichang, from slow to fast. Following the beat of the guide, Chen Shichang accelerated from the third step. Just like a thousand times of practice on the training ground, he mentally counted his steps, and at the ninth step, Yang Linfeng's applause began to become urgent, and Chen Shichang subconsciously changed the rhythm, pushing his speed to the extreme with a small but fast pace. At the moment when he was about to step on the springboard, Yang Linfeng flashed to the side, and with the last heavy high-five, Chen Shichang took three steps in a big stride, taking off, closing his abdomen, and landing on the ground. 12.95 meters! At this time, his 4 opponents, the best Fujian star Chen Xingyu, only jumped 12.04 meters. After the game was no longer turbulent, 21-year-old Chen Shichang finally realized his dream of Xi'an Olympic Sports Center Stadium.
Chen Shichang, a native of Yintian Town, Changning City, Hengyang City, suffers from congenital visual impairment. The unfortunate Chen Shichang was lucky again, because a road had been silently paved for him. At the age of 11, Chen Shichang came to Changsha Special Education Secondary School, where he conducted basic sports training with children with sports endowments. In 2014, in order to prepare for the Hunan Provincial Para games, Chen Shichang partnered with Zhu Xuankang to practice sprinting, and then successfully won 3 gold medals, when he was only 14 years old.
This year, while preparing for the Paralympic Special Olympics Athletics 4×100m relay, he began practicing triple jump a few months ago with the help of frontrunner Yang Linfeng. The two people have been partnering in the sprint project for more than a year, so Yang Linfeng is very familiar with Chen Shichang's steps, and Chen Shichang, who has Yang Linfeng as a guide, is very relieved, and Chen Shichang bluntly says that this is a common victory for the two.
"Having watched so many games, admiration for these athletes is born." The on-site referee Yu Qi is also a coach of the triple jump, because this competition is really exposed to the long jump project of the visually impaired group. He clearly remembers that in the October 26 competition, Beijing athlete Yu Yachen made a mistake at the starting point, resulting in a somewhat early jump, and as a result, he fell heavily on the plastic field and sprained his ankle. But they are fearless and strive to leap forward, and this kind of self-confidence and courage is difficult for ordinary people to have. ”
"Every child is an angel"
In the Paralympic Special Olympics long jump, there is a special group, that is, the intellectual disability - T20 group. Athletes in this category usually don't have an IQ of more than 70, but their physical coordination is much better than that of Special Olympics athletes.
Sun Xin, 16, jumped 4.8 meters in the final of the women's long jump T20 level on the afternoon of October 27 to win the first place in the event. But Sun Xin looked calm, because she didn't know what this moment represented.
Coach Hao Yangjie's excitement is not only because Sun Xin won the championship today, but he knows that through this competition, he can verify Sun Xin's talent in the long jump event. "This kid has only been practicing long jump for more than 50 days, and it's really remarkable to have such a result." He said. Sun Xin was discovered by Hao Yangjie at a school games, and then he took her around to teach her middle and long-distance running, "In fact, she mainly attacked 1500 meters, this time reported the long jump, 400 meters and 1500 meters, did not expect the best long jump results." ”
Hao Yangjie said that most of the children he brings in his daily life are children like Sun Xin, whose minds are still in the child stage, "You have to tell her to drink water and get dressed, and she will do these things." And speak bluntly, otherwise she can't understand. 24 hours a day must be where I can see, otherwise they may be lost. The same is true in training, where they have to go through countless practices for each movement. Even so bothered, Hao Yangjie was still full of confidence in them, "Every child is an angel, although they have intellectual disabilities, but I believe they have different talents, waiting for me to find out." 」 (Reporter Yukino Text/Photo)
