New media quoted China News Agency as saying that the entry threshold for this list is 237 million yuan invested in research and development in the previous year. The total R&D expenditure of 500 enterprises is 742.9 billion yuan, of which the R&D expenditure of the enterprise with the highest investment is 141.9 billion yuan.
The total R&D expenditure of the top 1,000 private enterprises invested in R&D was 818.5 billion yuan, an increase of 16.2% year-on-year, accounting for 33.6% of the R&D expenditure of all Chinese enterprises. The average R&D intensity was 2.57%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points year-on-year.
From the perspective of industrial distribution, the top 5 industries in terms of R&D investment are: computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing, with a total R&D expenditure of 219.2 billion yuan and a R&D intensity of 7.26%. Internet and related service industries, the total R & D expenditure of 166.8 billion yuan, R & D intensity of 7.01%. Electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, the total R & D expenditure of 62.6 billion yuan, R & D intensity of 2.66%. Ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry, the total R & D expenditure of 55.7 billion yuan, R & D intensity of 1.41%. In the automobile manufacturing industry, the total R&D expenditure is 49.2 billion yuan, and the R&D intensity is 4.18%.
From the perspective of regional distribution, among the top 1,000 private enterprises invested in R&D, 708 enterprises in the eastern region have a total R&D expenditure of 726.5 billion yuan, with an average R&D intensity of 2.73%. There are 190 enterprises in the central region, with a total R&D expenditure of 61.8 billion yuan, and an average R&D intensity of 2.13%. There are 102 enterprises in the western region, with a total R&D expenditure of 30.3 billion yuan and an average R&D intensity of 1.32%.
