Just now, Harvey announced that he will retire at the end of this season and enter the coaching industry, and issued a statement, the full text of which is as follows:

Football is the perfect lubricant to bring people together and make life better. In March of this year, I had the privilege of going to India, where I was inspired by a young kid named Wattold, a 15-year-old footballer I met in Mumbai. He faces many difficulties in his daily life, such as the extreme lack of water resources in the community where he lives, and some children are forced to leave school to start working early to help their families.

However, Watod's parents insisted that he continue his studies and encouraged him to follow his passion, which was football! I visited his family and he showed me the house they lived in and all the trophies and accolades he received, and I was touched by this visit. Because the same thing had happened to me before, I realized at that moment that maybe football could help him tremendously.

In Mumbai, we've been amazed that people have started building community soccer stadiums that will benefit children like Wattold, including 19-year-old footballer Punum, who can also train other children in the community.

When I was a kid, I knew football was my hobby and part of my life. Visiting India and getting to know these kids was a wonderful experience. The freedom of children is unparalleled, so I am very proud and happy to be able to help these children. There is no doubt that football can change the world.

In Watoll, I found a special joy in football, which allowed me to see what it was like to win through football. Over the next 4 weeks, I'll be tying my shoelaces and playing my last few games, which will be the finale of my 21-year career.

Winning the Qatar Star League title, which was the only title I had missed before, but now there are no regrets, is the perfect ending to my career in Qatar, and we deserve to win this title. So I'm very happy for Al Sadd, it's an admirable team.

What I have achieved over the past two decades has given me great glory and, therefore, I feel it is my responsibility to reciprocate all this through football wherever possible. That's why I feel it's so important for me to help Qatar host the 2022 World Cup.

As an athlete, you never get tired of winning. Once you win a title, you always want to win more. We have produced a good generation of footballers in Qatar, many of whom are members of the national team that won the Asian Cup earlier this year.

Now I think it's time to say goodbye! It's an honor to be able to play at the age of 39 and now I hope to end my career after winning the Emir Cup and qualifying for next season's AFC Champions League. So I have to say, this is my last season as a player, but I'm looking forward to what Harvey as a coach will be like!

As a coach, my football philosophy reflects the style we have developed over the years under the influence of Cruyff and the way we play at Barcelona. I love seeing the team take the initiative on the pitch, play offensive football, and go back to the love we had in football when we were children, which is: controlling the ball.

Watortode is just one of the more than 250,000 young people we have been involved in our projects to date. Amazingly, 28 football pitches have been established in this region and we hope that through programs like this we will educate and nurture young people so that they can unite and become the best in their region through the power of football.
